Works Very Well June 12, 2007 127 out of 128 found this review helpful
I purchased the Golflogix GPS instead of the more popular SkyCaddie because the Golflogix is made by Garmin. Obviously, Garmin knows GPS. The unit is actually a re-packaged Garmin eTrex. It is very solid and sturdy. When I bought it I found that three of the courses that I play were not mapped. I requested them and in one week they were available. Fantastic. I have also submitted questions via email and have been answered promptly. The unit is small and easy to use. It will increment holes automatically when I walk to the next hole. Most of the time I do not need to press any buttons. I would definitely recommend Golflogix.
Golflogix GPS April 25, 2007 70 out of 70 found this review helpful
I have used this item for several rounds of golf. It is very easy to use. Seems much easier to work than the Skycaddie. They both will give you the same information but this one is easier to read and operate. The customer service at Golflogix is tops also.
Not that Great! September 20, 2007 58 out of 73 found this review helpful
I bought this Golflogix GPS to replace my Skycaddie brand. I thiough that it being made by Garmin would provide great accuracy and durability. The latter of which is the issue that I had with the Sky Caddie.
I received the unit in June. It died in 3 days during the second round. They sent another unit and I had to repurchase the membership fee to register but was refunded after a couple of calls.
I took the unit to one course where it tracked the 1st green throughout the round, whereever I was on the course.
Another course displayed the 1st green as 864 yards away from the tee box! The rest of the holes it was "out of range". A real embarrassment as my other partners had the Skycaddies working fine.
Yet another course displayed yardages that were so inaacurate, they were laughable. This unit is not ready for primtime.
Many call to customer service and tech support were worthless. No callback, unimformed tech personell and just general BS. The promised to refund my money and then would simply not respond to my request.
Mac software that was promised in August is still not available. I'm very dissappointed!!!
Good device that could be better August 30, 2007 34 out of 34 found this review helpful
I got the device last week and played two rounds of golf using it. By and large I am satisfied with the performance. The unit worked as advertised.
Here are some things to be aware of:
1. I was using the cart and there were several times when on reaching the ball I saw a 15 yard difference between what the unit was indicating and what the marking on the course was. I realized that you need to give the unit about 20 seconds after stoppint the cart to give the exact distance. If you walk to the ball, there is no issue..it will provide correct distance always.
2. The unit has two screens per hole. One showing distance to the green and the other showing hazard distances. The second screen does not indicate what hole it is showing distances for..would be a nice and simple enhancement.
3. Battery life is good..I played 2 rounds and the battery indicator barely moved.
4. looks and feels rugged and the belt clip is handy
5. I had an initial question about accessories. I emailed golflogix and got a response within a day.
6. Downloading courses to the device was quick and easy
I bought because of Garmin brand. I have a mobile garmin gps for my car, which i love.
Never guess about yardage again February 25, 2008 31 out of 31 found this review helpful
I bought the GolfLogix GPS from Amazon because of the Garmin name and the price. After my purchase, Amazon dropped the price by $4. I sent them an email and they refunded the difference. How many merchants will do that? Many of my golf partners have the SkyCaddie SG-2 and I think that the GolfLogix is a superior product. It uses common AA batteries, although it consumes them quickly, as noted in other reviews. That's not a big problem. I use Energizer rechargeables, and keep an extra set in the bag ready to go. Unlike the SkyCaddie, if the battery goes dead in the middle of a round, you can easily pop in a new set and be back in business by the next hole. All of the courses in my community are covered by GolfLogix, except executive links. On the first day of use, a passing rain shower had the SkyCaddie folks scrambling to cover their units. I had no worries with the GolfLogix as it is water resistant. During initial use, I checked the accuracy with every known marker on the course (200, 150 & 100 yards) and the GolfLogix was with 2 yards every time. Perhaps the most amazing part of the information is the distance to hazards. One dogleg on my home course is protected by trees on the right. GolfLogix gave the distance to the trees. Once you set it for the first hole, you don't have to touch it again. The screen is very clear and easy to read. I am far sighted and prefer to wear sun glasses instead of reading glasses on the golf course, but I have no problem reading this gps. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of battery life. I would have made it four and a half, if I could. It is truly an amazing product that every serious golfer should have.
