Amazing little box!! May 14, 2005 34 out of 35 found this review helpful
I needed a Bluetooth GPS and started to read about different products. I found out that Sirf III was something to go for and when i found GR 236 with great specifications i ordered it.
Got it after three days. Minits later i knew where i was! Easy to start and connect to laptop, PDA, whatever bluetooth... Getting signal indoors, on the bus, in the car - I am overwhelmed!!
The only thing i have found that could have been even better is the battery capacity. And they could also have sent a neck-string with it.
The GR 236 is definetly a product that I recommend!!

GPSlim is PocketPC Must Have October 10, 2005 28 out of 29 found this review helpful
Let me see.
1. Sirf III chipset 2. Included 850 mAH Li-Ion battery 3. Bluetooth 4. Included AC adapter 5. Included Car adapter 6. The size of a pager.
This little unit is absolutely amazing. I had a GPS for my old Handspring Visor (Magellan) and it was bulky and monochrome. This thing is amazing -- I'm in my 2-story house, and I get a connection, with a whopping 7 satellite lock in less than a minute, and I get it on my nice, big Pocket PC color screen. And the unity cost me only $130 or so (from their website).
The only downside is that the software is relatively weak -- only a status monitor on the Pocket PC. But, I don't care; I use MS Streets & Trips anyway. It would probably be lame, and just add major cost to the unit anyway.
As a computer and tech junkie (I started by programing my TI-58C in the early '80's in the eighth grade, and have worked my way up to an MS in Electrical Engineering) I would wholeheartedly recommend this GPS unit.
Oh, and how easy was it to use? I turned it on, and connected to it on my iPAQ immediately.
The best so far... January 8, 2006 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
I bought this after I tried a pharoas BT GPS receiver w/ TomTom software. I can't say enough good things about the Holux 236. It is small, lightweight, and worked instantly out of the box with my mac and my treo 650. Pairing was a snap, and the receiver acquired 8 satellites inside my house, which also has a fair amount of tree coverage. I've been driving around LA with the receiver placed in my center console of my car and have only lost the GPS connection once... driving in a canyon.
I give this thing two thumbs up.
Also, Buying anything besides SIRF III would be a mistake at this point.
Great little GPS!!! April 27, 2006 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This little unit works flawlessly. Paired effortlessly with my VX6700, and I was navigating with TomTom in minutes. Some of the best features:
-Uses the same battery as a Nokia 6xxx series cell phone, so if the battery dies (as most do after about 3 years), just get a cheap generic replacement.
-Uses mini usb charger (the same type as my PDA), and you can use it as a usb gps is your computer doesn't have bluetooth.
-Great battery life. I have been using it off and on for 3 weeks and have not charged it once.
-Great reception. I can pick up 4 sattelites sitting inside at my desk!
