Best Auto Compass I Have Found December 31, 2000 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
The V100 is a great buy. It was easy to set up and calibrate, and gives consistently accurate readings. It stays securely attached to my windshield. The overall design is well thought out.I have tried many conventional compasses for my car, and they have never seem to work right. This one fills my needs, and at a very reasonable price.
Can it actually be useful? October 2, 2003 15 out of 21 found this review helpful
The steel in the vehicle is gonna throw this thing off six ways to Sunday. It's too cheap to have compensation built in. Not to mention magnetic declination.heap seless arbage.

This was the first of three different PNI compass models I have bought through Amazon, and I would not recommend any of them. If they worked right, I would love them. But all three of them will not stay on. It says they will stay on unless no change in the magnetic direction is for ten minutes. This simply is not true as all three of mine that I have bought shut off all the time, even if I just drive around the block all day.
This compass does the trick. September 8, 2005 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I've always wanted a compass in my car but could never find one at a reasonable price that worked -- until now. All you do is insert a couple of AAA batteries, stick the compass on your windshield with its suction cup cradle and then calibrate it. The calibration is very simple -- you press the calibrate button and drive your car in a circle -- it literally takes less than a minute. After that the compass works perfectly, showing the direction the car is headed with large LCD letters -- N,NE,E,SE,S,SW,W or NW. The compass automatically shuts off after a couple of minutes if the car doesn't move, saving the batteries. My only complaint is that the LCD face doesn't illuminate, so it's hard to see at night. But other than that, this compass really does the trick. You can't beat it for the price.
A narrow escape! February 28, 2001 10 out of 15 found this review helpful
My mother in law had been staying with us for approximately 12 days, 14 hours, 37 minutes and 18 seconds. Now it was time to take her to the airport about 50 miles from the house. We left late, the traffic was heavy and time was getting short. I reached one junction with no sign to the airport - which way to turn - a wrong turn at that stage could miss the plane and ground her for another 24 hours. Luckily I knew we were to the north of the airport & my V100 car compass showed which way was south. She made the plane with seconds to spare. Thank you PNI for the guidance. Now I have approximately 352 days, 12 hours, 17 minutes & 18 seconds till she visits again but, hey, who's counting? My name? Are you crazy - just call me a lucky guy!
