This remote control deserves to be called universal August 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This remote is the first universal remote that really is universal. It gave me the opportunity to place all my equipment inside the closet, far away from TV and still have control over all components, even such things like HDMI switch. You need to spend some time placing emitters (6 are supplied) in the best spot on the face of each component to have the best results. Placing them directly on the optical component's sensor might not be the best thing to do. With RF20 you have an option to customize it the way you want. Setting it up was not difficult at all. It came with instructions on DVD, but I did not even open it. With other universal remotes you may get to control the unit, however there will be always couple of buttons that you will not be able to control. With RF20 remote you don't have to worry about that. If you are missing couple of buttons RF20 can easily copy them. If you have old remotes, remotes that are made by little known brands RF20 will copy all of them. This is the most amazing product I have ever had.
Great Option for Most Users! October 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just received my new RFS200 PowerPak Bundle yesterday and I am very pleased with the product. I had all of my components (Projector, HD/DVR, Audio Receiever, DVD) programmed and working through RF (radio frequency) in 2 hours (components are in a closet). I was a little nervous about the purchase because the RF Harmony 890 remote was so much more expensive and was wondering why this remote was so reasonable (under $80 for the pack). Needless to say I am very happy with my decision. I'm sure the Harmony remotes have their advantages, but for the average everyday home theatre owner, this remote will be all you will ever need.
I never used the DVD supplied with the package because the manual was very descriptive and easy to read. As far as the pre-programmed codes are concerned I really only used 2 of them (Comcast Motorola HD/DVR and LG DVD player). The JVC Audio Receiver and Panasonic Projector I programmed in Learn Mode which was very easy as well.
Macros were straight forward and easy enough to understand. The macro functionality is pretty basic so if I had to guess, that's where the serious home theatre owner would want to go with a more expensive unit like the Harmony 890. But like I mentioned before, most of us would never need it.
Great remote, great value.
Highly Recommend October 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The unit does exactly what is advertised to do and it does it extremely well. Easy to set up and receives radio remote control signal from anywhere in the house.
Better that expected April 19, 2007 I have had too many remotes this is the very last one I will ever need. It does every comand that I have programed into it, every time. This remote has so many great features that I don't even use them all. Don't even think twice, you can't go wrong with this one.
Best remote I have ever used. June 6, 2007 I needed a RF remote and decided on the RF-20 from Universal and love it. Really easy to use and program. I have used other RF remotes and this one by far is the best. No problems with signals. I have devices in another room and it never misses a signal.
I did have an issue while programming because of the cable remote I have. Tech support was very helpful and solved it.
Would buy this again w/o even thinking about it.
