old information July 25, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
the information send with the product was obviously old as none of the numbers worked in programing the remote. I have been putting it off,but I guess I will have to use the learning method with all components. This takes too much time.
Flawless RF transmission July 30, 2008 I'm a very happy user of RF-20 with its Master Control/Blaster. My media lies in garage and wires are run to my living room. I was looking for a universal RF remote and I tried several but some did not work with my devices like ArchosTV+. This works well with everything I've thrown at it (DVR, Dish, Archos, Roku, Samsung, Symphonic, Westinghouse). Previously, I was using Sony Commander RX-1400 and converted it into RF by using NextGen batteris - a neat concept but not perfect. If you do not press hard enough, sometimes signal would not communicate. Another one had sensitivity problems. This one is perfect - and so cheap. I widh it was PC programmable but it was still very easy to setup.
It may not be the most beautiful remote out there (for example I liked Sony's layout better) but the beauty is in its execution and transmission through walls and instant - with a very light touch. Amazingly, it works better than Dish Network's own RF remote for 722 (which has some hit and miss ratio in my setup) - and same goes for Archos TV+.
If the company adds PC functionality like trackball and small QWERTY pad to it, then it'd really be the last remote control you'll ever need in the living room.
Great Remote August 18, 2008 I originally bought this remote to control my family room satellite box and AV receiver from my patio. I have a tv in the patio that is connected to the satellite box from the family room. I was concerned that the remote would not work, since I had bad luck with a radio shack rf/infrared solution. The remote works as advertised with great range. It was easy to program. It controls everything I need to for only 79.99. I would have paid 200 bucks to get this performance. I liked it so much, that I bought a second one to control a tv in another room. I did not even have to connect the flashers. You can't beat this remote for the money.
Not That Easy September 1, 2008 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this item around Christmas of last year and immediately began working on getting the codes for all my components, the typical DVD, amp, HDTV, and a NmediaPC entertainment computer hooked to the HDTV via HDMI. After several hours of reading the manual and getting the rest of the components to work, albeit somewhat clumisly because of all the page switching necessary on the remote, I failed to find the HTPC codes and began the 'learning' phase. After numerous attempts I gave up in frustration and left the remote sitting in the box in the corner. A few months later I contemplated trying again but instead threw the remote in the garbage and haven't regretted my decision. Spend more money for a better remote with newer codes.
Excellent Value, Great Product September 3, 2008 The title is really my whole review. This remote is worth every penny. It works as good, if not better that $400+ remotes (which I have owned) and is definitely worth getting over the cheaper RF/IR remotes listed (which I also have owned). I have my entertainment center tucked away in a closet on the other side of my apartment (at least 2-3 walls), and this remote works perfectly every time. Couldn't be easier to use, and the learning feature is fantastic. I control everything from my LCD to my Blu Ray, to my Apple Computer and even my ceiling fan. I feel like an idiot for paying ridiculous amounts of money for other fancy remotes that don't work half as well. BUY IT!
