Give yourself a crewcut April 27, 2005 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
After much shilly-shallying, I took the plunge and bought this set several months ago -- and for me, at least, it's worked out extremely well. I've been saving a bundle on regular haircuts by cutting my own hair; it's amazingly easy and also saves me time, as it takes just a few minutes to do. Note -- this is important -- that I keep my hair short all around (maybe a tad longer in the front), basically crewcut length, so there's not much art to cutting it. I started out, somewhat nervously, using the #8 black plastic attachment (which leaves hair the longest), but now use the #6. I simply stand in my bathtub (a DRY bathtub, needless to say; you want somewhere for the cut hair to fall that'll be easy to clean up) and clip my hair all around, occasionally looking in a cheap, light suction-cup mirror that I stick to the bathroom wall, but mainly doing it by touch. Now, it's possible that my friends have been lying to me or snickering behind my back, but -- at least to my face -- they all say they think my hair looks great. I have no idea how hard or easy it would be to cut hair if it were long and/or wavy; perhaps that would take more skill than I possess. But for my purposes, this electric clipper has been a great decision and has already paid for itself many times over.
THE BEST! October 30, 2005 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I have owned these Wahl hair cutters since April 2004. They were $22 back then. They're still a great buy.
I have saved so much money on hair cuts in the past 1-1/2 years that I could throw these away and still be ahead. (no pun intened) I won't throw them away of course.
Not much to add to the other fine reviews. The Wahl works great; they're as quiet as the barber's trimmers. Cuts as smoothly....
They are made in USA; clearly marked as such. Strange, one comb is made in USA the other in China. The oil container in my kit was made in China... But the hardware is made in USA and great quality. My cutters are as sharp now as they were 1-1/2 years ago. I oil them with each use. The attatchements are plastic clip-ons but work as intended. I have not broken one yet with my big paws; I was sure I would have by now. Ha ha....
You can't go wrong with these hair trimmer/cutters. You don't really need all those plastic attatchments but the ones to cut around the ears make it easier to trim that area.
So, buy a set and start saving money!
Everyone wants a cut! December 26, 2003 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
I bought this set last year to cut my boyfriend's hair. After three cuts I was a pro. I now cut my boyfriend's hair on a regular basis. I also cut my brother's hair and my friend's hair. They are both repeat customers. I only reccommend this for short men's hair or children's hair. It is very safe and easy to use and saves $$$.
Very pleased with purchase October 31, 2005 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
We gave in and bought these when my son couldn't hold still for the barber. His hair is quite thick and it pulled a bit the first time we tried to use them. A little oil seemed to fix that, and we've been going without incident since we figured it out. We seem to need oil every 5 or 6 cuts. It isn't too loud, and the clippers themselves are very sturdy. The attachments are handling well so far, and we swap them on and off quite frequently. The DVD that comes with it is quite helpful too and gave me a little confidence before putting clippers in my hands for the first time. We consider it a success!
Pretty good for the cost March 23, 2006 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
For the cheap cost of these cutters all you have to do is use them twice and it covers the cost. You do get what you pay for though. The accesories are very cheap feeling. The scissors are junk and the "cape" is a cheap plastic bag with a string. Now the clippers are actually pretty good and cut well with just two or three passes. I was releived to see that the different pieces are labeled just like they are at a barbershop so if you like a two just like I do you will know which one to use. These clippers do tend to pull if you start moving to fast even after being oiled, but it is nothing really that horrible. If you leave these clippers running for too long they start to get REALLY hot and you can even start smelling burning hair. So the second time I used them I just turned them off if I was pausing for a second and that seemed to fix that problem.
So overall I recommend these clippers to someone who is cutting only one persons hair at a time and wants something cheap that will get the job done well. I would not recomend this to someone who has to cut a whole family's worth of hair every couple weeks. I would advise getting a WAHL with a cool running motor.
