Very good noise cancelling headphone for the money! June 25, 2001 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
The fit is good, even though the ears are not covered completely, and they are comfortable. The sound quality is OK and they filter out external low frequency sounds effectively. I've tried other brands sell for 3 times as much, and this set works just as well if not better. For the money, these headphones can't be beat.
Work well, good value, mechanically weak July 19, 2002 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
These are inexpensive and work well with airline audio systems, computers, walkmans. Battery life is excellent, at least 20 hours on a set of batteries. However, mechanically, these headphones are flimsy. The earcups twist for storage, but if stressed, they will break off. They can be repaired, if you don't mind using epoxy glue and wrapping up the break with wire, and not having the twist capability anymore.
Awesome product for the money. February 22, 2006 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
About two months ago, I went on a long trip with a friend of mine, and he told me to try out his Maxell NC-II Noise Cancellation Headphones so I did, and I was really impressed. I heard high quality sound, and really excellent noise cancellation. After listening to them for about 20 minutes riding down the Interstate, in a Honda CRV that had a LOT of road noise, I really wanted a pair of these. So I asked how much they cost, expecting him to say around $150 or so. He told me "I got them for about 40 bucks." A week or so before, I had tried out a couple pairs of Bose Noise Canceling headphones, and the cheapest of the two, were about $200 and it wasn't very comfortable for that price. Nowhere near as comfortable as the $40-50 Maxell NC-II.
So today I bought the Maxell NC-II's and I'm jamming out to various rock songs as I'm typing this, and I have a very loud Microsoft Natural Keyboard, and can't even hear myself type. I've noticed also, that I just using these for a little bit, I can hear more of the background instruments, like they are clearer and stand out. Good for playing games like Far Cry, where you use audio to tell exactly where the enemy is. Plus the ambient jungle sound effects in it sound awesome!! These have to be about the best headphones you can get for the money.
waste of time and money May 31, 2001 11 out of 24 found this review helpful
This is very uncomfortable unit. But the most annoing this is that I could not use headphones on a 15 hour flight on Boing 747 bussiness class. Units does not have proper connector. Headphones are heavy, pinched my ears and perfomed poor. Even standrd headphones provided by United were better. I just hope that I will get my money back fast.
great! July 11, 2005 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
i was doing some research for some good headphoens to use to listen to music when i'm relaxing or studying and i was skeptical about this at first because no one had ever commented on it before. i first bought sony monitor headphones and they HURT! i just put them on and had to take them off right away and didn't even try it with music on... then i shopped around and figured that maxwell headphones shouldn't be that bad because my college doesn't sell a variety of headphones and only sell the ones that actually sell and maxwell's were one of them. i went to staples to get some supplies and actually saw ONE maxwell headphones left and they were also only priced for a total of $30 and so i decided to give it a try. when i took it out and tried it first before the music, it was really comfortable! when the music, it really has a nice sound and does drown out the noise around you EVEN WITH/ WITHOUT the batteries for the noise cancellation. i would recommend this pair of headphones to anybody who loves a bargain and also comfort and sound w/o the hinderance of performance just for the price. it even is compact and includes a pouch for it! how convenient especially since it also includes plugs for the airplane...for anyone who needs to travel...
