3 out of 5 stars Not bad   August 3, 2004

I totally agree with the electronics fan who said that the product was ok and i would like to add...

Although the sound quality is great and the design is nice the quality of the headphones itself is terrible!! well i can't explain it cause you just have to feel it! (Cheap)

Although i bought it brand new i noticed a big annoying scratch! you would say maybe someone opened it before you but no, the box is that kind of boxes that cannot be opened twice which means ..... RCA doesn't mind selling a scratched Product! :s

1 out of 5 stars Absolute JUNK   January 21, 2006

Do NOT buy these headphones. If you do, you WILL regret it.

These RCA 900MHz Wireless Headphones (WHP160T) wireless headphones DO NOT work well at all. I have to be INCHES away from the antenna to get any signal at all (and it cuts in and out even then), there's hissing, and the sound quality under the hissing is very poor.

These headphones had one good customer review on amazon which stated that hissing, and signal cutting in and out problems (which MANY of the other reviews complained about) were resolved with some WD-40 as a contact cleaner on the potentiometer that tweaks the 900 MHz broadcast frequency. It was on the basis of this review that I bought these things. I am now convinced that that review was fiction.

The problem with these things is that "Thompson Consumer Electronics" or "RCA" or whoever manufactures these headphones has simply put a piece of JUNK out onto the market.

The "original packaging" has been pretty much destroyed because it is, in fact, impossible to get into the package without destroying the packaging. Many products are packaged that way these days, so Beach Audio's "original packaging" requirement for returns is really pretty ludicrous. I complained to Beach Audio about this product, and they did NOT respond to my e-mail.

2 out of 5 stars Its ok   March 21, 2004

The headphones are OK... this means that they are not worth the money that you put in but if you have bought them, well, they will work. They are uncomfortable, yes, I don't know why they designed it the way they are. I bought them for $5 in a garage sale so I am pretty happy with some wireless sound...lol

PROS:
1) Good style ;)
2) It works well if you don't have a 900 mhz cordless phone in the house
3) Works equally 'good' as the sony headphone at the same price
4) Great sound. The speakers that they put in are really good. They give good sound and also give me good sounds during gaming.

CONS:
1) VERY uncomfortable
2) Automatic Level Control is crap. It annoys you very much during songs. Gaming is alright, infact, it is very good in gaming! cause sometimes the gunshots are very close, and it slows down the volume level...:)
3) Have to fine tune the wireless auto adjust to get the best possible level to get little static and more sound (notice I didn't say no static, cause that never happens). That fine tuning takes a lot of time and becomes annoying after a while
4) I will mention it again. The most annoying feature is the ALC (Automatic Level Control). IT SUCKS!!! I can't listen to songs without my head thinking 'why is the volume lowering and increasing???'
5) Headband is really really weak... it didn't break yet... but I know it will
6) Sometimes the signals get lost during some words (like the 'ssss' and the 'iffff') although I don't know why...

1 out of 5 stars If you like static!   May 19, 2004

I was thinking that a 900Mhz wireless headphone would at least equal the sound quality of a cheap, generic 900Mhz phone. Nope, not even close. While the headphone is comfortable, and looks pretty snazzy, this thing contains a lot of static. It will also intermittently pause and zone out, no matter how close you are to the antennae. The range is a joke. After 20 feet, it'll basically turn on and off. It's just a terrible product, and the only benefit I got was the knowledge that RCA actually has the gall to release such a shoddy product, so I can avoid that company from now on.

1 out of 5 stars Worst headphones ever   May 23, 2004

There is always a horrible static sound. If you move or breathe to heavily the sound will cut out. Sometimes blinking is enough to make sound cut out. Even if there was no static and no cutting out the music that comes out these headphones seems muffled. Even if it produced good sound these things are so uncomfortable they give you a headache. Even if they produced good sound and were comfortable they are made of cheap plastic and would break in half eventually.
