They LAST very long February 10, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've had these since .... let me count .... 1996. Mine just stopped working yesterday. That means this trusty pair of mine has worked for me for 11 years! And sound quality is great (I listen to a lot of classical music so clarity and depth is very important to me, and this pair handles well. Good bass too) These are absolutely the best earphones you'll ever need.
Great replacement earbuds on a budget February 26, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Bought these based on Consumer Reports review in my search for a good set of MP3 earbuds. Those included with the Zen-5 were not adequate in sound quality and would only remain in place when sitting. I have another set of Sony earbuds that are louder but they do not stay in place during movement at work. The Fontopia's stay in place, have very good sound and a good price point. I can afford to buy 4 more sets of the same for the wife and kids!
Good sound, but HURT April 11, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
These earbuds have a great sound, but hurt my ear big time. The part that goes into your ear is hard plastic, and unless you were the model for the mold on these things... they're not going to fit your particular ear shape. There's only one size/shape, so your chances of a good, comfortable fit are slim. I ended up returning them and buying earbuds that have a soft rubber end that comes in 3 sizes.
Big difference from other Sony earbuds - Shure like sound June 15, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have quite a few earbuds, Sony mostly, and make it a point to listen to all the earbuds that my friends have as well. I bought these because the left "bud" on my second set of Sony EX51's went out, and these had quite a few favorable reviews. What a difference! the ED21 sound for a lack of a better word - muffled. If I want to praise them it would be for a balanced, "smooth" sound. The kind of background elevator music sound. While my 10$ E828 Sony's were somewhat harsh, but still with ample bass and highs compared to the EX51, crispness wise the ED21s fall flat on their face. Comfort wise they are similiar but better than the E828, the protruding bud part kind of screws into the ear slightly making for a secure fit. It is larger than the EX51s though, so it is not as comfortable if you lay your head down sideways on a pillow. Here is another comparison which may excite quite a few people; there is a quite a lot of similiarity between the ED21s and the Shure E2C headphone (one in each ear), very mellow, soothing, non fatiguing sound.
I agree with Consumer Reports! July 19, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
These ear buds have been great. They fit comfortably in my ears, the sound is clear... no static or cutting out. These are MUCH better than the retractable ear buds I was previously using. I would definitely buy them again!
