1 out of 5 stars Another painful earbud!   February 12, 2007
15 out of 19 found this review helpful

I have been on an endless search for headphones that I can use while running that provide good sound quality and are comfortable. I have had little luck, so at this point I am now just trying to find something that doesn't hurt!

I was very excited to get this particular headphone! I thought for sure it would be my answer. Boy, was I ever wrong!! Just to give you an idea of what poor design they are... I am back to using the buds that came with my Ipod.

I guess the concept for this earbud is wise, but there is something flawed in the design. These buds are painful no matter what combination of attachments I use. One of the wires going from the actual ear bud to the part that plugs into the Ipod seems to be at leat 6" too short and thus the headset is "lopsided". I have no idea why they are made like this. I contacted Sennheiser weeks ago to inquiry if this was an intentional design or a mistake on my set. I have not heard back from them.

I will never purchase another Sennheiser product.

5 out of 5 stars If you run, get these!   September 19, 2006

I've tried almost every single brand and was about to give up alltogether on the idea that Ipod and running could be combined.
I tried JVC, Sony, Koss and even the original earphones that came with my Nano. The Koss earphones actually stayed on for about 5 minutes... I decided to try these Sennheiser after reading some of the reviews.
They fit right the first time (after trying on the different adaptors) and I actually went through my complete run without re-adjusting, putting them back on or removing them alltogether.
I thought I was being lucky... but run after run after run they stay on, period.
Like other reviewers, I don't understand the shortness of the left cable nor the color choice, but tell you what... I don't care! The cable is a little bothersome the first few times, but the earphones actually stay on, people! I also sweat more than average, so we'll see in the future about the water resistant claim, but, let me repeat... these things actually stay on!
I don't know anything about sound to know if these are better or not than the others. The Koss I think provided the best sound, but if they fall out of your ears, there's no sound to begin with!
If you run, these (hopefully) are the last ones you buy!

5 out of 5 stars Cable not too long one side   March 14, 2007

I haven't purchased these yet. However the reason the cable one side is longer than the other is because it is meant to go around the back of your neck not the front. This way you have a tidy cable down one side rather than wires flapping in front of you.

5 out of 5 stars Shot in the Dark, but Great Buy   September 14, 2006

I researched in depth all types of in ear headphones. My main concern was to make sure they stayed in when I was exercising. I compared many earbuds and read reviews and decided to roll the dice and buy a pair of these green Sennheisers.

The earbuds' fit great once you find your set of attachments. They are comfortable and do not irritate over lengths of time. They also stay in when you move about! The larger earbud attachment creates a seal that blocks a decent amount of ambient noise, they are by no means noise cancelling.

I had downloaded the specification sheets for each of Sennheiser's twist to fit earbud models. They have three models, sport (green), street, and style. I compared frequency response, THD (total harmonic distortion), and weight. All three models are basically similar in these three aspects. Why they charge more for the style model I have no clue.

The sound of these earbuds are an improvement over Apple's default pair of earbuds (I believe they are the same price as well). Fact is earbuds are never going to sound as good as a nice pair of closed back headphones that encompase your entire ear. The sound of Sennheiser's sport twist to fit earbuds is not bad by anymeans, they have good bass but have a bit of a midrange problem (too much, haven't tried EQ). We're supposed to be exercising here so people who complain a lot about the sound quality can go sweat with a pair of earbuds that cost a third of an iPod for all I care. As long as these last me 1 year and take the beating they are well worth it.

Overall these earbuds are a great deal. These earbuds are good sounding, good fitting, non-fatigueing earbuds. Well worth the money, I highly recommend these earbuds for anyone looking for quality earbuds for a middle of the road price.

1 out of 5 stars I HATE the Coiled Cable   December 3, 2006

The sound coming from these headphones is great, and so is the twist to fit method of keeping the buds in your ears. But the cable is absulutely the worst one I've ever seen. I guess the coiled cable idea is ok in theory, but uncoiling the cable every time I use them is awful. Every time I put them in it takes at least a minute of untangling the cable to be able to use them. And I don't understand at all why the left cable (about 12-15") is so much shorter than the right (about 30"). The left cable is so short that the left ear bud keeps jerking at the shirt clip, which means I have to adjust them several times to stop the jerking. Except for the earbud, the iPod approach to the cable is MUCH, MUCH better.
