I bought the JBuds based on the reviews here on Amazon. I kind of made the assumption that the buds would be as good if not better as the Ipod standard buds, and they would have a bit more of the noise cancelling feature. I was half right... the JBuds do seem to prevent one from hearing outside sounds better than the Ipod buds, but the sound quality in my opinion is not as good. I am not a sound expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I will try to describe the differences. The JBuds seem to have a distant sound and have little "depth" to their sound. After listening to a song or two, I decided to see if I could add some bass to the sound. I had never did this with my Ipod, but quickly found the bass booster and this helped, but after listening for a few days on the JBUDs, I decided they were not as good. I did a comparison on a diverse entry on one of my songs. The JBuds (With the bass boost ON) did not have as good of bass as the IPod Buds (With the bass boost OFF). I guess the word I would use for the JBuds sound is shallow. They remind me of the old AM radio stations. Also, an indicator of the qualtiy of the buds in comparison to the Ipods is the wire. It is not of the same quality and it tangles more easily.
Also, it is worth saying that the only reason why I was looking for a new set of buds in the first place is because one of my Ipod buds has vibration issues on some songs. I thought I could upgrade my sound for 20 dollars, but I did not make the right choice for me.
Cheap, Comfortable, but not great sound. January 14, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I like the price and the comfort of these "ear buds." They are definately overrated though. I did not notice the sound being any better than the earphones that come with the iPod. If the sound was all it was hyped up to be than I would give them a 5. Keep on looking if you want better sound quality.
JBuds Hi-Fi Noise Reducing Ear Buds for iPod~Excellent February 17, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I love these ear buds! I had tried many iPod ear buds and these were an answer to a prayer. I have sensitive skins and (pardon the TMI) an excessive ear wax problem. Every other ear buds I tried were either too big big or too small, ill fitting and irritating.
With these, I got exactly what I wanted. Well made ear buds that performed exactly how JBuds described they would. There were three different sizes, because not all ears are created equal. Also, the noise reducing aspect of the product really delivers, and makes it hard to explain to people why I missed their phone calls.
These JBuds have made me fall in love with my iPod again, thank you.

JBuds ear buds do not reduce ambient noise April 13, 2007 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Unfortunately, the JBuds were disappointing to say the least. Purchased after reading reviews of the headphone but after one flight with it, I had to return it. It did almost nothing to reduce the ambient noise inside the airplane. Purchased JVC HA-FX33-A for $20 and am very happy with it. It has foam ear pieces for far better noise reduction and comfort. Hope this helps.
OK at first, but now they are trash... July 9, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I got these for Christmas and initially liked them as they were more comfortable than the ear buds that came with the iPod, however, I noticed a couple of problems. First, the rubber tips come off very easily, second, after about two months there was static in the right ear piece at times, and finally, after six months the right ear piece quit working completely and I had to throw them away. The problem may be linked to the very thin wire used so my next pair of ear buds will definitely be much more substantial.
