4 out of 5 stars Great but not the greatest   February 15, 2006

So I was finally fed up with the default ear buds on my iPod and shopping around I came to the conclusion that these were the best for the under 100 price range. Since I did buy these as replacements to the ear buds that's how I'm going to review them on the basis of the ear buds (Except the numerical ratings).

SOUND QUALITY: 8/10
A hell of a lot better than the ear buds. The music seems like it surrounds you, giving a stereo like experience. Unlike the earbuds when you turn up the volume you don't loose quality everything still sounds clear. It also seems like you can make out notes better with these than the ear buds. One thing that is bad is that the sound "leaks" since they're semi-open, if you're in a quiet place and have the volume turned up above 25% chances are people will notice. That's probably my biggest gripe about them

BASS: 8/10
Great bass response. The first thing I did when I got these was test out the bass and I have to seem I am very pleased. You get that rumbling type noise on hip hop songs and can hear specific bass notes like never before on the original ear buds. The bass also doesn't blow out if you turn it up, the first day I had my iPod I blew out the bass. The only way I can really describe it is bliss, I simply love it.

COMFORT: 9/10
They're the over the head variety and actually fit very well. Unlike the ear buds they don't keep falling out, you won't have to worry> One of the main reasons I bought new some new headphones. They have some cushions on the inside of the top band that make a small difference but what's good about them is the ear muff parts don't really cause a bother. What does however is if you listen to them for an extended period of time, oh let's say about an hour or more your ears might start feeling a little warm. Still, the best over the head's I've ever had.

DURABILITY: 7/10
Not much here since I've only had them for a short while but they do seem like they could break. Since they do fold it almost feels as if you could accidently break one of the parts, I've had no troubles so far but you never know.

PORTABILITY: 7/10
Of course they aren't going to be as convient as those small little ear buds but they're still pretty good in terms of portability. They fold to which makes them able to fit in your pocket but if you stick them and your iPod in one pocket it'll feel a bit cramped. The case it comes with seems like a nice idea but it's not that great, it takes some time to get the headphones inside. It's not an instant type of thing.

CONCLUSION: Great headphones for 60 bucks to replace those bothersome ear buds. Nice audio quality and bass plus portability make these one of the best 60 dollar replacements for the ear buds (If you want better quality, if not I'd suggest something a little cheaper).

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for the portable player   July 3, 2007

Sennheiser has made a headphone set that is as near to perfect for portable players as I can imagine. The build quality is good. The phones are light but seem sturdy enough. They fold neatly for travel, though there is a trick to getting them in their case. I can wear them comfortably for hours. The sound quality is very good. If it were any better the lack of full dynamic range that compressing audio causes would detract from my iPod listening.

I've tried listening to compressed files mp3 and AAC with studio grade headphones and honestly don't like it. Too much accuracy shows up the compression encoding limits and the music sounds less than stellar. The PX100 strikes a terrific balance between very good sound, and good enough accuracy. They're ever so slightly too bassy for acoustic jazz and classical, however, not annoyingly so, but rock and country fall right in the sweet spot.

These headphones are great and have great sound quality, although it took a few times to get them refolded in the case right.

5 out of 5 stars gr8 headphones!   April 11, 2007

I'm no expert on sound equipment, but I do know a what I like. The headphones come in a nice carrier that you can put your folded up headphones into, and carry around. Very convenient. I hear things on this headphone that I've never heard before. Very clear and crisp sound, with no noticeable distortion. I only wish I could have bought a black pair instead of white. Very highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful, Wonderful   May 21, 2007

Had many open ear Sony and various brands of headphones in the past, but this one has excellent response throughout the music spectrum. Beats all my previous models. I like the deep bass. Take if from a pro musician, these are very well worth the money...
