5 out of 5 stars Bose does it again...   December 11, 2004

When I saw that BOSE had a 2 speaker set that also had dual input sources, I ran to the nearest store! As I write this review, I'm listening to some Celine CDs on them in fact. The speakers have a good dynamic range of sound and I'm quite impressed by them. I also heard their companion 3 speaker set which had a lot of bass compared to these, but too much bass isn't a good thing for a desk at my office - it would disturb others. These speakers look great, sound clear - and have a little bit of heft to them - there's some quality for you.

I'd say its the best sound your going to get for an office environment without subwoofer (which are a pain for an office anyway). For home computers for normal listening, they would be suitable as well. It all depends what you do - I wanted accurate music reproduction - so I'm pleased. If I was a big movie watcher, I'd probably go with their Companion 3 or another brand's offerings. The dual input is perfect for my two PCs at my desk :-).

The only negative (which might be a positive for some) is that there is no light on the front indicating that it is plugged in. Also - no way to turn them off from what I can tell...just a volume nob. Regardless, I'm very pleased and looking forward to many years of great music listening.

2 out of 5 stars Not what I expected :(   December 23, 2004

I bought these as a replacement for a logitech Z2300...I was highly excited until I plugged them in and heard. They were pretty nice, but hardly what I expected from a top notch brand like Bose...I plugged my Logitechs back in and they simply blowed the bose away as far as depth and resonance were concerned. The bose had good treble, but really not worth the money. I am returning them ASAP and am sticking with my logitech.
Cheers. :)

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Sounding Speakers   August 24, 2005

If you are looking for a small set of accurate sounding speakers for musical purposes, search no more. If you are looking for more versatile speakers i.e. for gaming, then look elsewhere. Also, and this is important, if you are looking for speakers that project well, these are NOT for your. These speakers have an incredible sweet spot when you are situated about a foot and a half to two feet at most from either one of the speakers. This is not a good choice for a speaker system to fill a small bedroom. Do not expect to plug your iPod into these and replace a real stereo system. These are perfect for sitting directly in front of while at your computer.

5 out of 5 stars Finally, someone gets it right.   February 1, 2005

I have listened to just about everything in the metropolitan Atlanta market under $150.00 and this is the first set of speakers I've heard that didn't screw something up by trying to sound like more than what it is. Most stuff is boom, boom, boom with a very forward and nasty midrange coupled to a nonexistent or shrieking top end. Every system I heard today had so much glare that it actually hurt my ears.

Wonder of wonders these things simply sound normal. No booming, screeching or gravelly mutilation of the music. They have a very pleasant tone without any ugly surprises. The current crop of pc speakers are trying to defy the laws of physics, common sense and simple economics. In manufacturing you can only get $100.00 to go but so far. It can't build a 400 watt 5.1 that sounds like anything but crap.

These speakers are not trying to pretend that they are something they are not. They are what they are and nothing more and I like the way they sound to me. (I prefer neutral sounding equipment). I have never been a Bose fan but this time they won out even if they are a little overpriced.

1 out of 5 stars Too MUCH Bass!   March 30, 2005

I've always wondered why Bose is so obsessed with the amount of Bass they can squeeze out of small speakers. It's a neat technological feat that they can do it, but it doesn't give a very balanced sound. The Wave radio sounds that way, and these Companion 2's also have TOO MUCH Bass!(and no tone control) Not everyone who listens to music is a Teenager wanting excessive Bass Boost...
