5 out of 5 stars Read the instructions   March 5, 2008

I bought this item from Best Buy. There are two boxes one is the transmitter which connects to the Amp and the other is the receiver which connects to the rear speakers. I connected them backwards and it did indeed shut off my amp, because the rear box is an amplifier and when it is connected to the amp that is a bad situation. Once I realized I had it backwards, I switched the boxes and everything worked great. I'm glad my amp has some kind of circuit protection or else I would have fried it. I believe all the low ratings are due to the same problem. Read the directions!

Well I bought this one after giving up on all the wired options to cleanly hook up my rear speakers. My living room is setup in such a way that I can't have wires running along the trims or by any other means and thanks to my all mightly builder (i bought a new home few months back), they refused to wire the place for surround sound speakers. So my final option was to get this wireless kit, and I have to say I am somewhat satisfied.

The setup is simple and easy. There is a sender and reciever and the entire setup is a no brainer.

Pros:
Easy setup, works very well and solves the problem.

Cons:
- It was only today that I noticed a slight disturbance in the sound but it was bearable. I have yet to figure out what caused this issue. Maybe the cell phone connection that my wife was using at that time.
-You can't use a wireless device (such as a ps3 or Wii) when this unit is turned on and placed right next to it. However, I would still be able to use my laptop with a wirelss connection in the same room.
- The sound quality is degraded slightly. I am not sure how much wattage it recreates. If you have a high end reciever outputting some 100+ watts and have good good rear speakers, you might not get the same quality with this unit.

All in all, it has been a good experience. Too bad there aren't too many of these products around. As for bad units, buy it directly from BestBuy and keep trying until you find the one that wor

I bought one of these off Ebay after reading a website that gave it much praise. These units are mostly defective. Some people get one that works and most get one that doesn't.You probably have a 20/80 ratio, being 80% dont work.Mine just made my rear speakers hum.No sound.Worthless product. There are other wireless units out there.Dont choose this one unless you can demo it first at the store you buy it from.Else you will regret it like i do.

I agree with the first reviewer. This item is worthless...
Bought from another store and hooked it up with no luck....then to add insult to injury it shorted out my reciever.....

This product is a "piece". STAY AWAY!!!!

1 out of 5 stars Mine didn't work. . .Make that 4 of 4 that didn't work   December 6, 2007
I just bought one at Best Buy. . .it absolutely doesn't work. No sound at all. The units connect up as indicated by the LED, but no sound comes out of the rear speakers. It also causes my Amp to occasionally shut off, which I suspect is caused by a short. Clearly when these work, they work well but there are major quality control issues. . .

UPDATE: I went back to Best Buy to exchange this unit and asked to test out the new one before taking it home. . .I did so with several folks from the A/V department. . .the new one didn't work. Neither did the next one. . .or the next one. . .there were varying issues with each. One shorted out and died when we hooked up the left speaker wire. The others were just silent, with no sound. They appeared connected, the volume was up, there was definitely a signal. . .nothing. I got my money back.
