Difficult installation April 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
OK quality of the speaker itself, but the installation method is horrible. The little screw locks are poorly designed. There should have been longer screws or something to keep the wall/screw locks from falling off inside the wall. Once you install the speaker there is no going back, you can not manuver the screw locks into a position to take the speaker out of the wall. I would research other speakers to find ones with a better thought out installation process.
Pretty good speakers!! February 8, 2008 Great for surrounds. be very careful when tightening the clips that hold the speakers in place, they crack very easily. Otherwize nice for surrounds. I had a couple tight spots to put them in so i couldnt use TC265i's that i have for my other speakers so these are for surround and work nicely.
Polk, What do you expect June 19, 2008 It works, install easily and doesn't give a problem. Push it and it will fade at higher volumes, but as an inwall its a good performer. Keep it in a 1-1.5 cuft. environment and you'll be even happier you bought it. Whether bringing up the rear or working as a front or mid speaker..with a good receiver, properly tuned and a good sub, its a piece of cake. It'll return on its investment you can be sure.
Good clean sound August 26, 2008 I have two pairs of these speakers, one in my kitchen ceiling and one in my dining room wall. Both installations sound great. The highs are very crisp, especially thanks to being able to aim the tweeters. The lows are respectable considering the size and lack of tuned enclosure, but obviously these don't create room-shaking bass. If you wanted more bass in the room with these, I'd recommend an in-floor sub to keep the nice uncluttered look in the room. Installation was very easy. The depth of the rotating mounting tabs was enough to handle even my very difficult kitchen ceiling which consisted of 0.5" drywall on top of 0.25" of plaster on top of 0.5" of wood planks (that combination was fun to cut through). My only disappointment was that the wire connections are spring push terminals instead of more rugged and secure binding posts. With that in mind, I would recommend securing your wire to the stud inside your wall somewhere near your cutout so the weight of the wire isn't pulling on the connectors (so it doesn't come out over time). My only other advice would be not to install these on an outside wall (I didn't) if you plan to play your music loud and have neighbors nearby. Trust me, they will hear every thump of bass since these are mounted in the walls.
