ordered a Samsung HT-X40 and it played a DVD for 10 minutes over an HDmi cable to my Samsung 46 inch LCD then the video went BLANK.

return the first unit and ordered a SECOND Samsung HT-X40 and it played a DVD for 5 minutes over an HDmi cable to my Samsung 46 inch LCD then the video went BLANK.

returned the second unit for a refund.

still looking for a reasonable priced DVD Home Theater System that WORKS.

3 out of 5 stars NO Headphone Jack!   February 19, 2008

I bought this for $220 at Fry's on Friday, and didn't get around to start setting it up until Monday. I was about to hook it up when I realized there was no headphone jack. I even called Samsung just to make sure I couldn't get some sort of accessory or something for it. No headphone jack. I brought it back and got the HT-x70. The HT-x50 and 70 have headphone jacks, but the 50 was silver, and I wanted all black. And now since they are 5 disc systems, it doesn't fit on the bookcase shelf I reserved for it. Other than that I am so far quite impressed with the 70, so I be the HT-x40 is good, if you don't care about using headphones. (The HT-x70 is quite loud, so I need the headphones if I'm going to get along with housemates.

5 out of 5 stars Samsung System Good Bargain For The Price!   January 8, 2008

Good bargain for the price, we were going to have to buy a new DVD player any way, so this is definitely a wonderful deal! The sound quality is solid for the price and the system is very flexible and does not take up too much space.

5 out of 5 stars Wow, unexpected quality from an HTB   January 21, 2008

This system was quite easy to hook up and use. Had it up in approximately an hour, mainly due to the space I was putting it in. Sound quality was great from from this system. For a non-powered sub-woofer, still got some floor rattling bass from movies. Easy to switch from different modes, just a slight delay between them while switching. Works great with Panasonic plasma TV through the HDMI connection. Had problem with Optical cable connection. Couldn't figure out if the problem was from this system or from box being connected to. Just made a different connection and everything worked great.

I purchased this item through Circuit City. It was easy to connect and sounds great but when playing a DVD, the screen will go black every so often and sometimes you have to power cycle the unit to get it to start again. I placed three calls to Circuit City customer support plus two to local stores to see if I could swap at a local store (no luck, they dont carry it in stock). In the end, Circuit City had no process for me to get a new one while keeping the old one (even if I bought a second one on my credit card) without me having to pay shipping. The only way they will pay shipping is if you first ship it back, wait 7-14 days, and have them ship out another. I'm returning it and purchasing another unit - and NOT through Circuit City.
