Still under review July 29, 2008 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
I purchased DVD player as a gift for my niece. She and her parents were thrilled with clarity and overall performance for the first two weeks until unit failed to operate. They have returned product and are waiting on replacement. I hope the experience ends well.
Disappointed, expected better from Sony November 1, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
First the good news. The sound , the picture , the performance is great. Bad news: Doesn't play home made DVD-R discs. That was a surprise to me. Olso it only plays Region #2 discs. I would have expected a portable DVD player to be global specially from Sony! (I was aware of this fact before I bought the unit)
No close captions? November 2, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This product is everything they say it is but it doesn't let you view the close captions. A big minus in my book.
Reasonably Pleased September 23, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Bought this for airplane trips with the kids (etc). The image shown on Amazon is a little misleading b/c it does not show the battery attached (which adds about 1/3rd to the unit's thickness as shown). The screen quality (brightness) is great. Used it for 4+ hours on two flights and battery still had 1/3rd charge left. Like the double ear plug slots (so you don't have to buy / carry a splitter if you want to share). The sound is also good without earphones (much better than my mac book for example). My cousin has the generic Best Buy brand portable dvd player... after seeing his and comparing it to this one, I'm a bit jealous b/c his is thinner / more durable looking / cheaper (but don't know about the battery life).
Enjoying It And Great For Travel November 2, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I'm very happy I bought this portable DVD. I've never owned one before and wasn't sure what to expect. This has worked out well for me and my family. On a trip with the kids in the backseat, they were totally entertained for several hours! We bought a plug in to run from the car battery and it was nice. The battery though will last for up to 6 hours. It has a nice picture and sound quality. The remote is a nice feature and it is much easier to operate the unit using the remote rather than the buttons on the DVD. Not a bad price either.
