4 out of 5 stars Good Buy   February 7, 2007

This is a very nice, compact little DVD player. It sits nicely on top of your clunky old VCR, next to the switchbox. It reads slightly smudged/scratched discs very well, and has good image quality. No blocky edges on the pictures. There are a couple of things that bother me about it.

1. The buttons are on top, so if you toss something on top of the DVD player, you chance sudden fastforwarding or rewinding, etc.

2. The remote control is SO TINY that it disappeared the third day I had it and I have seen neither hide nor hair of it since.

I can live without a remote, though, so it's okay. Overall, this is a good product. It does what it's supposed to do, and it does it well, which is good when you have five-year-old fingerprints all over your favorite cartoons.

The DVD play is great, progressive scan, component video output, coaxial audio output, ready to connect to any home theater system. No skips when playing home make dvd on DVD-R. However, it does not play SawIII that I rented from Blockbuster, don't know why since my other DVD player works.

Durabrand is a walmart brand. They are cheap with great quality.

This player can be tricked to be region free. Search the internet with its model.

It broke down after two and a half month.

Exchanged for a new one, and have been working for over 6 months.

I bought this for 25 bucks at a store a few months ago... Two months after my purchase it broke for absolutely no reason. It would play a DVD for a few minutes then shut off or freeze.

Don't waste your money- pay a little extra and go with a brand name!

This was the least expensive DVD player I could find on the web but it is great. I've been watching it every day. Gorgeous picture and easy to find controls. I don't care much for the remote which doesn't duplicate the DVD's controls but I don't intend on using the remote much anyway. The seller, Wholesale Distributors, was very courteous in helping me find the right item after I ordered the wrong one (DVD player but no screen). I recommend this product.

I had this product for 3 years now and it still works like a charm unlike my $150 Emerson DVD player, bought also 3 years ago which broke last Christmas, lost the remote to the Durabrand DVD player, but it is still functioning. I also bought a 5.1 100 watt surround sound, it sounded just as good as my friends 5.1 Sony 300 watt system and she paid $300 for it. I paid $49 and it had been dropped a couple of time, I passed it onto my dad who is still enjoying it. I also purchased a durabrand CD walkman, and adapted it to a friends car stereo for a long road trip and it worked great, it was quite colorful also. I just bought a $50 car stereo by Durabrand, haven't installed it yet, but I imagine it will prove its quality. My friend has bought earlier models which she said worked very well. These electonics are nice on my tight budget, I don't feel that I am missing out on the quality. It compares very nicely to higher quality brands.
