1 out of 5 stars Unclear tech info   January 12, 2008

We own a Cannon Powershot G3 and use the SD Ultra II compact flash memory card. I read all the reviews about using the SD cards and thought this product would work just fine for the price. It arrived and the SD Ultra II card did not fit so we can't use the reader. My husband now assumes the mention of SD stands for something else, not SANDISK. I do not like to use the 1 star rating since we did not get the opportunity to actually use the card but I thought it was important to make other shoppers aware, who are not technical like us, that the type of card we own will not fit.

I bought this transfer devise to upload my photos to my iBook G4. I love using this because it is so simple to do. There is no complex software, I just plug it in to my USB port and it downloads my photos to iPhoto with one button click. One great feature is that it gives me the option of deleting my disk as it transfers the photos. Another great feature is there is no need for batteries as it uses the computer as a power source. I have had no problems with this devise and am very satisfied. It is very small and lightweight and easy to carry with your laptop.

1 out of 5 stars 1st time around great, but 2nd and 3rd?   November 8, 2005

This machine read great the first time and I was EXTREMELY pleased.

But whether my card is bad or the particular machine that we bought was bad... the machine grew very hot in a short amount of time and burned up the memory card.

So now I'm hesitant about re-using the machine plus we have to spend money on another memory card for the camera.

So this is just a warning to most of you. It's not all featherbeds with this one.

5 out of 5 stars This item is the bomb!   March 20, 2006

I recently purchased this wonderful reader about a couple of months ago. I opened the box and plugged it in. I didn't realize how easy it is to use. You push the button on top and a window pops up, then you select transfer images and select a folder then you are pretty much done. It's that simple! I was amazed by this product and I payed $19.99 at Best Buy for it. I RECOMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE.

5 out of 5 stars Extremely useful device   October 25, 2006

This SanDisk reader makes it very easy to maintain a digital photo collection. Before I bought one on an intuitive whim, I had been connecting my digital cameras to my computer. What a mistake I was making. The first time I used the reader, the response was instantaneous, and the transfer speed excellent. I save battery power on the camera and time since transfer with a camera tends to be slower.

Also, because the reader is so easy to use (and because I use Picasa - [...]- very intuitive photo management software), I am finding a lot more joy in phototaking, since the organization and saving process is faster. I take more digital pictures now than I ever did.

One note: I even tried putting a Sony MemoryStick into the slot, and the reader was able to read the files perfectly even though the form factor of the MemoryStick is smaller; this was a great bonus.
