4 out of 5 stars Best Value... a great projector under your budget   January 20, 2007

I've searched for quite a long time and this projector was all worth it!
You can not find a 720P projector under 1G and has a great picture like Optoma HD70.

5 out of 5 stars Works Great   February 28, 2007

This projector was very easy to install and does a fine job for the price. Note: all projectors are ambient light sensitive. Make sure that you have a dark room. And an HDMI connection from your receiver to the projector(the wires are a little pricy). Our screen is a floor-standing 100" Da-Lite. It is a 14' throw from projector to screen. The picture is stunning especially on animated films like 'Monster House'. Nice LBX feature allows for the picture to fill the screen. If you have a good surround system, you will get a movie theater experience at your convenience(without the $5 sodas!).

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for Home Theatre   April 10, 2007

I spent months researching not knowing anything about projectors when I was building my 12 by 20 foot room and this projector works perfect. You will not get anything better for the price. Note to all, you don't need a screen. I project on flat white paint and the projector gives me an adjustable screen any size I want up to about 180 inches. Another important point is to leave the projector 15 to 20 feet away from the wall to maximize screen size. The quality is as good as my 56inch DLP TV. I would recommend using in a darker environment as the lumens are not high but I don't need them since my room is windowless. Everyone that has seen this can't believe it was only $940 dollars. My friends are mad at themselves for spending thousands on big screen tv's when all you need is this projector.
I have High Def cable hooked to it and it's amazing. A standard DVD projects fantastic and gamming systems are unbelievable.

5 out of 5 stars I'm very happy with the HD70   August 14, 2007

This is my first home theater projector and my first HD device of any type. I haven't as of yet upgraded to HD cable, so I can only comment on DVD reproduction...which depends heavily upon your source. I bought a Samsung upscaling DVD player, and I must say I don't think it is any better then the upscaling built into the HD70. I have since returned the Samsung for other reasons. I connected my laptop via the VGA connection to the HD70 and watched the opening battle scene from Revenge of the Sith..it was no less than STUNNING. I will likely just replace the DVD player with a media PC because a good NVidia card seems to do a better job at upscaling the 480p video of DVD to 720p or 1280i than most consumer devices. I am very happy with the projector. Once I receive my $200 rebate I will be no less than ecstatic, since I've already spent that money on a 92" Optoma/Panaview GreyWolfII screen.

4 out of 5 stars Great intro to HD projectors!   August 14, 2007

I don't want to get into the technical aspects of the HD70, as that has been covered by other reviewers. I'll just say that for the HD/projector novice, this is a great way to start. It is very easy to hook up and start watching. The menus are easy to navigate and any adjustments you need to make to the image are very intuitive to execute.
I use mine in the Man Room to watch movies & TV and to play video games. Everything looks great. XBOX 360 looks awesome in 720p, even PS2 is much cleaner than usual.
All in all, you absolutely will not find a better value in a front projector.
I also highly reccomend the 100" manual projector screen by Ultra to go with this item.Projector Screen Manual 100"
