Works well... but flimsy construction. February 18, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I purchased this device primarily to replace a different wireless presentation remote with very limited range. I must agree with the other reviewers in that the Targus Wireless Presenter with Laser Pointer works well enough as a wireless remote, and a laser pointer. The range is at least as good as advertised. What no one else has mentioned however, is the very flimsy plastic casing used on both the remote itself and the usb receiver dongle. I could easily crush the remote with my fingers, and I am not overly strong. The dongle is even more flimsy. I wonder if this device will hold up to the rigors of travel, even if some care is taken. In addition, the buttons feel cheap. Pressing any of the buttons, but especially the laser button does provide some positive feedback. Unfortunately, the feeling is more akin to what I would expect from a three dollar flashlight than a presentation remote.
Very handy item March 27, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Great item for presenters. Installation worked well with my laptop, just plug and play. Nice size in my hand and slide advance controls work very well.
The only downside is there is a small on/off button that is on the side of the unit. Its very hard to miss and if you dont notice it and turn it on you may think your unit is not working. I would have given it 5 stars but the silly instructions didn't point this little on/off switch to me so it gets 4 stars. Highly recommended though if you do any powerpoint presentations.
Linux compatible May 18, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I'm sure it works like a charm under Windows. I only use Linux, and it worked right out of the package. It advertises itself as a USB keyboard. If your kernel supports that, you're all set. Just plug it in, and click away!
Very comfortably sized. Fits perfectly in the hand (at least in mine :) The carrying bag could use a better clasp, but that's not terribly important, really.
Love it!! November 4, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This no-frills model is more user-friendly than a lot of the newer models. Works great, and I love the easy Fwd & Bwd buttons. I wish the laser pointer feature could adjust the width of the laser, but overall it works great and it's very convenient!
Inexpensive, basic, functional March 8, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
For a remote power point controller this one works as advertized. The laser pointer is weak, therefore 4 stars. I got what I paid for and am happy with this device.
