 Stylish and functional case August 17, 2008

I bought this case after reading the review at ilounge. It was the best rated iPhone 3G case at the time of purchase. The combination rubber + plastic skeleton frame is a good combo because it does not attract dust like full silicone cases.
I've had cases for other ipod products such as full silicone skins and clear polycarbonate shells, but nothing compares to the protection and styling of this product. The only thing it doesn't have compared to previous ipod cases is an belt attachment or belt clip, but I was never the type to wear electronic devices on my belt so no loss.

I bought this case because of the dual texture / materials and the overall look of the design (which I love!). While it does protect the iphone well, there are still a few minor complaints. First, the hardcase does not overlap the clear screen protector causing the screen protector to lift up and cause air bubbles every time I squeeze the case. A slight overlap would have kept the screen protector in place. Second, the insert for the connector dock does not fit well. I lost it after 3 days because it kept popping out.

This is a great case! It fits beautifully and looks really cool while not being too showy. It feels good in the hands and doesn't add too much bulk to the phone. I can still slip the phone in and out of my pocket with not trouble at all and it DOESN'T collect dust or lint (pet peeve of mine)! It's very high quality and gives you easy access to all of your buttons and ports.
Now for the couple of concerns. First, the plastic back of the case scratches very easily. I don't mind this. I got it to protect the back of my phone, not the case. I just thought it was worth mentioning. Second, there is a hole at the bottom of the case to reveal the speakers and give you access to the port. This hole is cut at such an angle that the plastic is kindly sharp. It isn't sharp in that it will hurt anybody, but I often hold my phone with with my little finger supporting the bottom of it. After continued use of the phone in this position it begins to irritate my finger.They include a plug for this part of the case which I may begin using, but I find it rather annoying to have to plug and unplug the hole each time I want to charge or sync my phone. Finally, as with many cases, dust tends to gather around the holes that allow access to buttons and the like. It's no big deal for the majority of the phone, but the hole for the camera collected enough dust that I thought I should mention it. It's not horrible, but not good, and the way the hole is cut you can't clean it out with your finger, so you have to remove the case to get the dust out.
All three of these are very minor problems. When I get another case, it will more than likely be a SwitchEasy Rebel. I may be ordering more of different colors if I do decide to get a little flashy. ;)

I have purchased a lot of 3g cases and this one is by far the best. I didn't use the included screens because I already have a privacy screen protector (purchased on Amazon for really, really cheap). The case does give you the little extra protection of a hard case, but still easier to use as a soft case. Plus the best part are the two stupid pieces of plastic that came with it! They include a universal dock adapter, which is great because I've never been able to use my dock because of the cases on it (not that thats a big deal, but an added bonus. Second, is they include this nifty video watching stand. It kind of looks like a groovy "9" and you can stand your iphone horizontal and watch a movie. Again, nothing great but a neat bonus in the box. Ended up buying 3 more for the family!
Sleek and Different August 24, 2008
I originally saw this on iLounge too. I couldn't decide between soft cases or hard so this looked like a good compromise, plus I didn't want my phone to look like everyone else's with the Incase Protective Cover. The Incase adds less bulk, but the Capsule Rebel is still slimmer than most other cases I've seen. The look is great - it retains some of the gloss of the iPhone, but it's not flashy, at least on the all black version. The soft parts of the case give just the right amount of grip.
As described in many reviews I've seen on online forums, there is a slight sag to the soft part of the case, right near the volume button and at the bottom. The sag on mine is not bad enough for me to return the case, but it's there. This is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.
