Amazon.com Product Description A great gift for iPod owners everywhere, the iLive IBCD2817DP boombox integrates a built-in iPod docking station with a vertical-loading CD player and AM/FM tuner, making it a true all-in-one portable audio system. The unit starts with the iPod dock, which plays and charges your iPod 3G, iPod 4G (click wheel), iPod photo 4G, iPod video 5G and 5.5G, iPod mini, and iPod nano 1G and 2G. The CD player, meanwhile, supports CD, CD-R, and CD-RW formats, letting you listen to any CD tracks that you haven't yet uploaded to your iPod, along with a friend's CDs. Finally, you can catch up on the news, listen to the game, or catch a commercial station via the AM/FM tuner. The IBCD2817DP owes its high-quality stereo sound to its pair of front-firing speakers, which deliver a crisp, rich audio performance. And thanks to the full-function remote control, you can control the CD player and iPod from a distance. Other details include a sleek white housing; a blue backlit LCD display with a digital clock and timer; CD track programming; a digital volume control; a 3.5 mm auxiliary input for connecting other audio players, like an iPod shuffle or MP3 player; an audio/video output jack for connecting an iPod photo or video to a TV; and a comfortable carrying handle. Wow great for the price! May 17, 2007 18 out of 19 found this review helpful
I am not the most technological/gadget/hip person in the world. What I am is a mother of a 15 year old and I wanted a way for my daughter to listen to her IPOD in her room. This boombox is so cool - she is thrilled - it has everything she needs. The sound is great - she can use the remote control from way across the room - it has a digital clock, CD player - radio- and it looks great. I don't know how it would sound in a large family room but for my daughter's bedroom it is awesome. My husband and I scored big points with her on this!
mid grade item July 9, 2007 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Well, it aint the best but it aint bad. It makes a buzzing sound when turned on, which isn't too great. I really like the remote control and such, but overall I thought the quality could have been a little better. It works well and I really like the sleek design. it's not a bad purchase. I don't regret getting it, but was just a tad disappointed.
An Excellent Deal For Any iPod Owner September 17, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
CONVENIENCE I purchased the iLive because the cd player in our kitchen was on it's last legs.
I like the fact that the iLive has a CD player built into it and that my iPod charges while docked in the iLive and that there is a remote so that my kids (3 and 5) can change the songs without worrying about them knocking it off the shelf.
We look forward to bringing it with us on trips so that the kids can watch their shows (that we have downloaded onto our iPod) where ever we go.
My husband enjoys listening to ball games on the radio, my kids like to listen to their cds and we all like to listen to the iPod.
SOUND The sound isn't anything to write home about, but it's perfectly adequate - especially considering the price. I previously purchased a basic computer speaker set specifically for my iPod for about $30 that has incredible sound. So when we're having people over or we just really want high quality sound, we plug the iPod into those speakers, but for everyday use and on the go use the iLive is a great investment.
DESIGN I regularly get comments on the nice design of the iLive. I particularly like the face that the iPod fits in snuggly and doesn't stick out like many iPod docking stations. I don't feel I have to worry about it getting knocked off.
CONCLUSION After owning the iLive for a few weeks I can say that I'm highly pleased with my purchase.
good for the price January 22, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is a very good unit for the price, what do you expect BOSE? It plays and charges your ipod (and yes your NANO-it comes with adapters to accept several size ipods), plays the radio and cd's. It's portable battery and cord operated and looks good. If you want exceptional sound you are going to pay for it.
CD player temperamental! September 24, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
The IPOD part works greaat; the CD player is temperamental though and the radio doesn't function well at all.
