4 out of 5 stars quite handy!   November 26, 2007

purchasing this product was prompted by 1. my television set dying and 2. my mom upgrading her pc which included a new cinema display lcd and so had her old one to spare... since i don't use a tv for anything other than watch dvd's and play video games i used the opportunity to seek out an analogue video to vga converter. after checking out a variety of products online and off i ordered the v2vpro since it seemed to be the least fussy and the clear winner in terms of price (others were upwards of $150 or so)... considering the inner workings of analogue to digital video signal conversion (and how very wrong it can go) this little device does a rather good job! the default settings left a bit to be desired but after some tweaking using the on screen display menus, i adjusted the brightness, contrast, saturation, resolution until the output from my playstation 2 was quite satisfactory... so, about $40 and a few days of waiting (the seller automatically upgraded to priority first class at no additional cost, which was a nice surprise) my mission of replacing my tv and granting a second life to a secondhand lcd panel was accomplished.

5 out of 5 stars Nice little unit, and the price is right!   February 5, 2008

I had purchased a DVD recorder/player/TV tuner that I mistakenly assumed would output to a VGA monitor that I wanted to connect to it. Anyhow I should have realized that would not be the case. So of course I started looking for a unit that would take the component output from the unit and convert it to VGA. I was pleasantly surprised to find the V2VPro at such a reasonable price. It was shipped to me way before I thought I would receive it, and it works great.

5 out of 5 stars What to do with that CRT?   April 1, 2008

Turn it into a video display of course.
I replaced my old 21" Trinitron TV with a 21" NEC CRT display. This amazing little box takes the crummy composite video signal from my DVD player and bumps it up to 1024 x 768 resolution non-interlaced. Wow! No scan lines. It also takes an s-video signal but I haven't tried that yet.

It take a bit of fiddling to get the picture just right but the on-screen menus are easy to use. The picture looks slightly processed but in a good way. You will actually be able to read those tiny credits at the end of a movie. Best of all, its cheap.

4 out of 5 stars Very Good   May 20, 2008

I use it on the LCD monitor for ps2 games, once you get it set up it's no big deal.

However, when performing settings it turned off on me now and then, but I got it working for good.

Several different connectors, s-video in/out,Av cable input, VGA output,Audio input as well.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent video-to-monitor solution   September 20, 2008
I needed a video monitor near my mythtv server to test changes in the linux-based DVR before. Unfortunately, I didn't have any extra TV screens. However, I had several 19" computer screens lying around. Hmm. If only they could be used to display s-video or composite.

A-ha! Enter this little wonder box. It's quite compact, yet extremely effective. Actually, I was not really expecting very much from it - primitive control and jerky or otherwise crummy video. NOT AT ALL.

This little gem is absolutely wonderful. It took the video I gave it without any problems, and spits out what resolution I desire. The video quality from S-Video source is quite good, and exhibits almost no inter-frame jitters. I really never would have expected it to work as well as it does, especially at its price.

The only thing I haven't really tested is a video source of poor stability -- ie, VCR. That might still cause trouble, I can't say one way or the other. But if you need video, and your source is solid, and only have a computer monitor, buy it. It's cool.
