Amazon.com Product Description
If you are looking for a cheap replacement for your lost or broken remote control, the Sony RM-V202 is a good choice. Simple in design, it sports an ergonomic design with large, easy-to-see buttons. The RM-V202 will control four audio/video components, reducing your remote needs from four to one. The RM-V202 will control TV, DVD, VCR and SAT/cable. It is compatible with most major brands and is simple to use. There is both a TV and DVD menu function, making the manipulation of these components particularly easy. Additionally, there is a picture-in-picture function which will allow you to keep tabs on two channels at the same time. The seven meter (twenty-three feet) range should be appropriate for changing the channel or adjusting the volume from across the living room. With a three-minute memory back-up, there is plenty of time to replace dead batteries with new batteries. The remote uses two, AA batteries; these batteries will last approximately six months.

5 out of 5 stars The Perfect Low-Cost Remote   October 7, 2003

This is such a great remote. It feels so ergonomic. The buttons feel just right. The channel and volume controls are perfectly placed and sized. You can even control PIP features (works for my Panasonic). The finish is high quality. Everyone should have this remote. At this price you cannot get better than this.

5 out of 5 stars Great remote!   November 30, 2004

Our toddler killed our original remote and since we have all Sony items (DVD, VCR and TV), we decided to get a Sony remote too. The best part is that we didn't have to program a thing! It immediately recognized all of our Sony electronics. It's also nice that we didn't lose all of the features of our original remote. It is very easy to use. I halfway think we should get another one to have as a backup just in case.

5 out of 5 stars Ideal for a standard entertainment setup   July 11, 2006

This remote saved my nightstand space and has brought me great joy. I didn't have as much of an issue with the SET key as the other reviewers did, though I would recommend being a bit forceful with the buttons when programming items in. As far as other qualities are concerned, the remote is extremely durable, having been dropped on the hardwood floor no less than 30 times and still working perfectly. It has been on the same set of batteries for about 2 years now, and has never given me any trouble. It's a very solid remote control for a good price.

4 out of 5 stars Good for the basics; had trouble programming   October 18, 2005

This is a good, cheap, basic remote that I use for my TV and DVD player. It is very ergonomic and in a few weeks of use I have adjusted easily to using it and haven't found any big annoyances. There are some quirks involved in keeping it simple and not overloading it with buttons - The channel +/- buttons function as the track-skip for the DVD, for example.

The one difficulty I had was in programming it. I spent easily an hour pouring through the 4-6 page instructions and punching in all sorts of codes. I felt like my Dad bumbling with the VCR until I realized the problem: Make sure you press that "Setup" button nice and hard, because it isn't sensitive in the least!

5 out of 5 stars Press HARD on the SET key!!   June 1, 2006

I toyed with this thing all afternoon and it was the reviews left here that led me to use a metal crochet hook to press down hard on the set key. I placed the remote on a book on my lap with it pointing towards the TV. This way I was able to use both my hands to work the buttons. It still took me two tries, but the 1st code on both my VCR and TV worked. Luckily, my DVD player is a Sony so it was already set up. No more remotes all over the coffee table. Yeah!
