Sony EX75 Earbuds June 8, 2008 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I bought these to replace my EX71s that died a couple days ago. Man, are these an improvement! Why?
1. The sound: These seem to have a much more "real" sound to them. The highs are brighter, without being tinny, and the low end is punchy and tight. To me, these sound as good as, if not better than, the higher-priced Shure, Sennheiser, and Bose buds.
2. The appearance: This set looks much better than the 71s. Not a huge factor in my book, but it may be in yours.
3. The cord: These cords don't tangle as badly as the older Sonys did (but still do a bit more than I'd like...) They also abandoned the one-side-longer-than-the-other design, for the more traditional Y-shape.
4. The buds themselves: The silicone parts actually stay attached to the plastic housing on this model! (a known issue with previous models)
5. The price: The bang for the buck factor on this set is at the top end of the scale. These $40 headphones compete with models 5X to 10X their cost.
What you get:
- 1 pair of headphones w/ medium buds installed - 1 2' extension cord - 2 extra sets of silicone buds (sizes Small and Large) - 1 plastic carrying case
What you won't get:
- Buyer's remorse!
Extremely pleased July 30, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I've bought several moderately priced headphones over the past few years looking for clear a sound that had deep, but not overpowering base. These are the best of the bunch by far. I was very tempted to buy a $100 plus headphone (though that would be a big spurge for my budget), but these Sonys sound so good I can't imagine that the expensive phones would be significantly better. These phones are also very comfortable and I like the optional cord lengths.
Fits My Needs Perfectly July 23, 2008 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
I wanted a set of earbuds to wear while riding my motorcycle. After doing a lot of research (which I do before buying pretty much anything), I found these little Sony earbuds were exactly what I needed. They fit nicely even while wearing a full-coverage helmet without causing any pain after a long ride. Unlike helmet speakers which do little to drown out wind noise, these earbuds allow hearing my favorite music I have loaded into my GPS unit, the commands from my GPS, while still allowing me to hear sirens or other potential danger signals while riding. They come with three sets of interchangable foam buds to fit just about anyone.
A big disappointment November 25, 2008 I listen primarily to 'classical' music and found the sound of this product unacceptable. Tinny, lots of hiss. Had to mess around for an hour with the iTunes equalizer to get anything approaching a listenable sound. Getting distortion even at low volume levels.
Tried them with some blues and got heavy distortion and poor bass response.
I generally like Sony, but not this product. I have Bose QC2 and am happy with those, but wanted something small for the office.
Bought my daughter some JBuds for Christmas, we'll see if those are any better.
Sony Earbuds November 29, 2008 They sound great when listening to quality music..........which is about anything but country and rap.
