It's ok March 6, 2007 15 out of 18 found this review helpful
Sound quality is so so. Bass is ok, Treble is ok too. For anyone who had hard time to open the case. I think they are first time to see this type of earbud storage case. It's so popular in ASIA since 10 years ago. Need to pull the cord out first, then open the cap and take out two earbuds. If you try to open the cap first then you will have bid problem to pull the cord out.
Great price, great sound--better than IPod's--case a no-brainer January 25, 2007 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Having used these for a year to replace the very mediocre quality earbuds sent with my IPod Nano (got one replacement from Apple, but it still had a bad sound), I thought I should set the record straight, given the negative reviews.
Sometimes people do get stuck on things like cases, and yes I too removed the wheel, but once you've done that (it really takes no time), these are really good earbuds, and not just for the price, but period. Well worth it.
So if you can't get them out of the case, ask a friend who's good at these things.
Only snag: the rubber casing of one earbud came off after a year's use. I replaced it with Apple's foam covers, of which I have plenty left over. And the sound is still great after one year's use.
The Best Earbuds I've Used September 9, 2007 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have used at least 5 different earbuds from various portable music players over the last 10 or so years before buying these. I bought these locally for ten bucks to replace a pair of comfortable Jensen Earbuds with Winding Case with form-fitting silicone donuts that had average sound quality but poor build quality. They stopped working in one ear, most likely due to strain on the extremely thin wires. My previous favorites were a five dollar pair of Aiwas purchased over a decade ago. They have good natural sound quality and are indestructable, but I use them with my iPod and need another set for work. Here's why I like the Philips buds:
1.) Comfort - they fit my ears perfectly, unlike the huge, uncomfortable buds I got with my 1st gen Nano. I can barely feel them in my ears. The Philips buds come with foam covers which I didn't use. They have rubberized shells that stay put in the ears but have a tendency to collect dust if not stored in the included case.
2.) Sound Quality - These are the best sounding buds I've used. Crisp and clear highs and lows with good balance and better than average noise isolation. So far I've notived only slight listening fatigue after prolonged use, possibly related to the high efficiency (106 dB). I may need to lower the volume or apply equalization on the highs.
3.) Build quality. These seem to be made really well. The parts are precisely fit and show no manufacturing irregularities or signs of cheapness. The case could be better, though. It's made of the same type of plastic that CD cases are made of.
Overall, I think these are a bargain and a superb replacement for the lousy iPod buds.
the case sucks, but the headphones are good November 29, 2006 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I too had trouble with it, but I figured out how to open it, and it's worth it. Just don't try to remove the buds themselves from the case first, but keep them in the top part and just pull the plug out, and, it will unwind and you'll be able to extricate the case. then, throw the case away (it sucks). the headphones themselves are very comfortable, nice and simple and streamlined, and they've got great output. and for the price, you can't beat the quality.
Can't go wrong, really February 20, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
If you are going to have a heart attack when you realize that the case is useless, these are NOT for you. Otherwise, they are a great little set of earbuds for the price. They have great sound quality, and stay in my ears a lot better than the buds that came with my Sansa. Save yourself the trouble, pry open the case with a screwdriver, and then be happy that you just invested 8 bucks in something that might actually work well.
