Major disappointment November 6, 2006 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have purchased serveral "ear-bud" style headphones since I crushed my original Apple-supplied phones. By far, this was the most sonically inferior product of the lot.
As soon as I plugged in the phones and began listening, I realized something was missing. These earphones have tremendously weak bass output. For someone who listens to mostly rock/alt./progressive music, this was a problem. (Even the Apple phones sounded much better.)
Since I could not stand the sonic output, I did not spend much time with the product to truly evaluate the aesthetics. One thing that did annoy me though was the different cable lengths from the split to each ear. I'm not sure what the intended benefit of this is, but I found that the cable hung in an awkward way while I had my iPod clipped to my waistline.
I will stick with Sennheiser or Sony products from now (in this price range). Fortunately, Beach Audio did refund my purchase price after some delay and minor prodding, but I was still out the shipping costs each way.
A total thumbs up... if you don't lose things really easily. December 17, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought a pair of these JVC earbuds around last Christmas, and they were the best pair of headphones I'd ever had. They had a great sound; were very comfortable; and actually stayed in my ears (which is always a plus), unlike the Apple headphones. My favorite thing about these headphones is the fact that the cords are different lengths. This lets you wrap the longer one around the back of your neck, keeping the cords out of your way, for the most part, if you bend over or anything.
My only problem with these was how easily the earbud covers (the little rubber bits) come off after a while, which makes them extremely easy to lose. They come with a smaller and a larger pair of covers, and by now, I've lost one cover from each pair... which unfortunately renders my earbuds pretty much useless.
I agree with the previous poster about losing things January 4, 2007 I bought these earbuds because I didn't like the ones that came with my Ipod. These are great - once you find the right fit with the rubber earbuds. It took me some time to figure out what set (or combo of sets) I liked best. The sound is great - I listen to a variety of music and have never been disappointed. My only problem has been that I lost one of the rubber covers for the size that I like the best.
Great for the price. January 6, 2007 I'm a musician, after my shure e2c's died, I was like crazy looking for other In-ear phones, and I said $25 why not? So I gave them a try and they were quite nice for the price, but with those sleeves that come with them you missed a lot of bass and also there's not too much Isolation. So I grabbed the foam out of the Shure e2c and bang! into these JVC and they rocked. great If yo want to have in-ear for a lower price, but you cannot compare it to the shure one or the ultimate ears one.
Amazing sound quality July 2, 2007 Lets just get the cons out the way: The cord length is approximately 4.9 ft (says so on the packaging). In my opinion that is too long for me and having actually droped my ipod because the cord got caught on an arm of a chair. I have to coil the bottom around my ipod before i put it in my pocket so i don't have excess cord hanging at my knees. So if these things come in a shorter cord length i'd get it, especially if you want to use this while excercising.
The pro's on the other hand are that the sound is just amazing. I compared it to another pair of ear buds and was amazed by the difference. Plus much more comfortable then the provided ear buds ipod gives. What i love the most is the sliding volume control. instead of picking up your ipod, or if its on hold, you just adjust the volume easily straight from the cord. I'm going to see if i can now get these in black and maybe in a shorter length. Color from dyed fabrics like purses and such rub off on the white rubber of the buds. Plus black to match my ipod. Just a great product though.
