4 out of 5 stars Nice but pricey   October 18, 2005

This armband deserves 5 stars but doesnt get is because of one reason:

The Velcro holds it on my arm niceley, but you can not have it excactly where you want it because you cant bend the spaced out velcro dots in half. Hopefully my arm will grow so it isnt so snug.

The great things about this armband are:

-It is smooth and comfortable feeling on your skin
-It protects the ipod very well (except for the screen, it is never covered)
-It looks really nice, much better than the other armbands for other iPods's.

Overall, this thing is a must if you excersize or jog..too bad it has to be so expensive though. It was made in a sweatshop for 40 cents, the m.s.r.p. is slightly more. (Hey, I bought it and apple knows people will.)

Update: This armband gets dirty and creases really easily, I have found myself returning it and buying a new one knowing it will get worn out fast. Suggestion: wipe off part that touches skin after each use with wet cloth, it wont stain then.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but pricey and one flaw.   November 18, 2005

Okay, first off, this does exactly what you want it to do--it holds your nano in place while you work out/run/whatever. The nano is quite secure in its holder despite the top half being exposed, and at no time have I been the least bit worried about it popping out and breaking. Access to the touch wheel is excellent, and the thin piece of plastic over it doesn't hamper your control over the wheel in the least.

I have two small gripes about this armband. First, there's simply not much to it, and $30 for this little thing is a rip if ever there was one. Second, there's no elastic loop in which you can coil up excess headphone wire and keep it out of the way. Whenever I work out, I manage to yank out the headphones at least once or twice due to the excess wire hanging down to my waist. Now I'm sure I can finagle something--i.e. wrap the wire around the armband or wedge it in the velcro--but considering that this feature is standard in just about every other armband, I'm amazed that this one doesn't have it.

1 out of 5 stars 30 bucks for this?   October 20, 2005

The price is ridiculous. Seriously. It looks like it could break if you put it on your arm too tight....which wouldn't be hard because it's tiny.

I've owned one of these blue armbands for about 4 months now and use it on average 4 times a week. Here's my evaluation, put simply:

Pros: (1) Looks cool on your arm at the gym. People know you have a Nano, because, hey, it's right there on your arm. (2) Comfortable stretchy material.

Cons: (1) Velcro dots are spaced about 3/4 inch apart. If your arm circumference falls somewhere in between those dots, you end up rubbing the tip of the band against the side of your chest, snagging your shirt throughout your workout. Apple should've gone the extra distance and put a solid piece of velcro on the band instead. (2) The band material picks up dirt like nothing else. No problem if you wash it after every workout, but for those who work out on a regular basis & have better things to do than wash an armband, the bottom line is that it gets grimy-looking. (3) Brightness of the blue has faded over time. Perhaps has to do with the frequent washings. (4) Not that convenient to switch songs or see the screen while exercising. Use a playlist or the shuffle option. (5) Leaves the cord from the earphones too long. There should be some kind of cord-wrapping/shortening function included in the armband. I tuck the excess cord in between my arm & the band while running - fine, but annoying to have to do.

Anyway, I think the above criticism is appropriate given the high cost of this item. Give me a belt clip anyday.

2 out of 5 stars If you use a silicone case beware....   January 11, 2006

This armband is average, at best. Dont get me wrong, it serves its purpose but my major complaint is that it won't work well with the silicone cases that most people use. If you use a silicone case you either have to take it out of the case everytime you want to use the armband or try to jam it in the tiny opening that was obviously only designed to be used with a "naked" ipod. The realy laughable thing is that with all the scratching complaints with the nano apple recommends using a case, do they expect users to take the unit out of the case everytime they want to use an armband. Let me tell you this is a major pain!! I got this item as a gift otherwise I probably would have bought a silicone case that doubles as an armband (ie. has a slot in the back for a strap). BTW the NANO rocks!!
