3 out of 5 stars And here I thought it was only my particular set   October 27, 2006

I had my Philips HL150 headphones for something like 1-2 years before something strange started happening. If you read any other review before reading mine, you can probably guess what that "strange thing" is; that's right, the right output of the headphones began to stop working.

Now, I am not the kind of guy who abuses my products. As a matter of fact, I own several products that are over 5+ years old yet still working perfectly. Nonetheless, the right output of the headphones (which I valued greatly due to my intense love for music) began to give out for no reason what so ever.

At first, it was easily fixed by me tapping on the right side a little but recently, even that method stop working. Now, no matter what I do, it will no longer work correctly. Sure, the left output still works but really, listening to only one output is unbearable.

Now I had thought it was only my particular headphones but reading all of these other reviews, I realized that it's a trend with this particular headphones. Kind of sad since I never really figure Philips for creating shoddy products.

Nonetheless, despite the horrible durability, I do personally think the headphone sound quality is very good. Additionally, the volume can go very high. The headphones lack good bass but I had thought the clarity was very good which was why I gave this product 3 stars. It lost 2 stars for bad durability and poor bass.

Overall, one can get something much better than the HL150 nowadays for a mere $10 more. Years ago, I would recommend these because they last long enough for only $10 but now, I highly recommend something else. I suggest that anyone looking for some headphones should try out some Sennheiser headphones (especially Sennheiser HD201 and HD202). For only a little bit more money, you can get something much better.

5 out of 5 stars About time to find these!!!   March 12, 2005

I bought the HL150 with the HS430, because if I liked one, I could take it back. Let me tell you, the HS430 is going back to Target, pronto.

SOUND QUALITY - Very good. The bass is pretty deep, and the highs are very clear. I can hear stuff that I couldn't hear from the MDR101LP from Sony. Also, these are LOUD!!! These are even louder than the Panasonic Wrap-Its! I'm serious. These are a true buy if you hate the headphones that came with your quiet player.

COMFORTABILITY - Very comfortable. Then yet, I've never seen the overhead style be uncomfortable. Because there the fold up ear-cup style, the are able to exactly match the ear.

PORTABILITY - They don't fold up the bend way. They fold up across, which is a bit awkward, but they do fold up, and they are very portable.

COST - I'd rather pay $9 for these, than pay for the Sony brand. I just like the Philips brand so much better because they're loud, have great sound, and are comfortable.

OVERALL - These are a great deal for people looking for new overhead type headphones. Look no futher, these are a great pick, and can fit into any budget!

4 out of 5 stars Relatively good headphones   March 28, 2006

I have owned these headphones for about 1 year and 2 months. The right side started giving out a couple weeks ago, so I bought another pair.

These are nice headphone for the price. The sound quality is good. They are also comfortable on my ears, not too tight with adequate padding.

I like to keep a pair of headphones at work and with these, I don't have to worry about them being stolen. I use a nicer pair of headphones at home, but if you are looking for an inexpensive pair of headphones where you won't care too much if they break, are lost, or stolen, these are the perfect pair.

1 out of 5 stars Good sound: bad durability   April 24, 2005

I'd agree that these have good sound, and an alright price.

But, these headphones just arn't as durable as they say. The wire on my right side is giving out, and so every now and then sound doesn't come from that side if I move the wire slightly. I don't think a connection was made very securely. At the moment sound is even going out.

Don't bother with these. I've had them for less than a year, and their lack of durability makes these headphones worthless. You're better off with those ones headphones they used to hand out in airplanes [the ones with the metal, not plastic plug).

1 out of 5 stars Piece of crap   March 3, 2006

I bought these for my daughter after she received an iPod for Christmas. She liked that they could be folded and put in her purse when not in use. However just a little less then a month after buying them it started to lose sound in the right side. We thought it was just a fluke and returned them to Target on 2/11 and replaced them with the same thing. Well here it is March 2 and it's already done it again. We're taking them back tomorrow and getting something totally different. I would skip these entirely, they're not worth the headache.
