Affordable, High-Quality Headset with Microphone May 14, 2006 175 out of 178 found this review helpful
I bought this device for recording podcasts and chatting with my friends on Skype, Gizmo, and Paltalk. I have been extremely impressed with the quality of the headphones and microphone.
First, about the headphones: They are quite comfortable (for me at least), and produce a nice, bass-rich sound. The volume control is nice, because the last set I bought produced sound that was way too loud, and I would get a shock if I didn't lower the volume greatly when switching from speakers to headphones. This set produces a more even sound.
Second, about the microphone: I am very pleased. This microphone puts my older microphone (a Labtec microphone from 2001) to shame, and saves me from having to clean up my recordings in Audacity to get rid of excess hum and noise. I was impressed that the noise-canceling feature really works well. Also, I can talk using a normal, conversational voice and the microphone picks it up clearly. The microphone can be adjusted up and down, and toward and away from your mouth, making it very easy to find the best location for the microphone in relation to your mouth. The sound quality is so excellent that as soon as my friends heard me talk with this microphone, they wanted one. I gave them a link to this product and they will order it soon.
Overall, I couldn't be more pleased. While I haven't compared this headset with other headsets, I can tell you that for the price, the quality is excellent, and I will be recommending it to all my friends as an affordable, high-quality headset with microphone.
uncomfortable to wear August 15, 2005 76 out of 116 found this review helpful
I thought by the picture these would be more comfortable than other headsets I've owned, but no, they're almost as bad. The padding is minimal, the ear piece is way too small, and the piece that touches your ear is very hard. I like the in-line volume control but that's about it. I don't use the mouth piece for anything so won't comment on that. I bought them to listen to audio on my PC hoping they'd be comfortable for at least an hour's worth of wear, but they're not.
Yet another electronic gadget to add to my junk box.
Not Very Durable March 3, 2007 39 out of 40 found this review helpful
I purchased this headset for use flying online with MS Flight Simulator. It was a good headset to start with and had very good sound, however I noticed a problem with it right away. The earpieces are fairly hard and pretty small making it uncomfortable to wear after about an hour of use. I was constantly having to rub my ears, but that problem didn't bother me all that much.
What bothered me is the extremely short lifespan of the microphone. I purchased this headset in January and the mic died at the end of February. Not a good product by my standards. It seems to be a flaw with the boom joint as it seems to have a loose connection in it. I wiggled it and was able to get the mic back for a few hours, but it once again died on me and I haven't been able to recover it since. I've given up on it. Time to purchase a better one!
Good Audio - Very Uncomfortable June 15, 2007 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
My husband bought two pairs of these, one for each of us. Before opening the second package he had me try his on since he felt they were uncomfortable after a short time. At first it seemed alright except the ear pieces didn't fit quite right on my ears. The sound put my regular speakers to shame and I was very impressed by the tiny details I've been missing in my World of Warcraft music. However, after wearing them for a short time, they became uncomfortable on my ears and also where the band sits on top of my head. Although the audio quality is excellent, I would not recommend these for any hardcore gamers that plan on wearing headphones for extended periods of time for voice chat.
One word: Ouch December 19, 2005 14 out of 18 found this review helpful
Wearing these for more than 30 minutes makes my ears hurt so bad I have to take them off.
Sound and mic performance doesn't matter one bit if you can't wear the darn thing.
