Not again.... June 10, 2008 There is no doubt that Altec Lansing makes very good "sound quality" for both speakers and headphones and I can clearly hear the difference when comparing to other headsets. However; this is my third headset and I am disappointed again with the low quality craftsmanship and assembly. By now I've learned to be extra careful in putting on and removing the headset and take care to not to jar or slam it around, even lightly, not to pull on the connector wires either, because everyday wear and tear takes its toll and they break essily if not careful. By break I mean stereo sound or mic ceases working. After just 4 months the mic stopped working, same as my other two sets. The volume wheel becomes "staticy" and cuts out after about 6 months and the plastic over the copper wires near the volume wheel slides out and away exposing raw wire and causing left or right side cutting out. For the price, I guess these are "disposable" with a product life cycle of less than a year.
Top headset in the market February 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've purchased about 10 headsets over the last few years. They all break in one way or another or the sound quality sucks or the mic sucks, etc. This is by far the best headset I've found. Sound quality is well above average for headsets, mic is good quality with built in wind sock, fully adjustable. in-line mute and volume, etc. My wife liked it so much she stole the first one I ordered so I got a replacement. After about a week I chunked my headset at work and ordered a 3rd. Believe it or not, I wear them over my $99 Tritton Technologies surround sound headphones. They don't have quite the sound the surround sound headset does the the mic is WAY better. BTW, they look heavy but they're light as a feather. You will NOT be disappointed with this headset. I use it for music, online gaming, skype and ventrillo. I've actually been asked by a few people what mic i'm using because it sounds so clear :)

A good value for the price. Not top range quality and not top range price!
Great Headset January 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This headset has awesome sound. It's only stereo, but I can tell where the enemies are coming in CSS and HL2DM (not that that makes me any better:) These are very comfortable and can be worn for several hours no problem. They aren't noise cancelling but make a good job of it anyways. The mic is decent, its clear in the game, but the mic tends to get in the way a little if your not using it since it isnt removable and not very bendy. The cord is super long, but I play on a laptop, so for Desktop users I guess it would'nt matter as much. I've read that the headset is fragile, but it seems pretty rugged to me. Great set of headphones, and not too expensive. Better Quality than some $100 headsets I've used. -Viperbird-
Not Durable Enough December 30, 2007 I expected way more from this headset the sound quality was ok and it broke in two months.
