Must-have audio accessory for Treo 650 owners May 28, 2005 42 out of 43 found this review helpful
Q: Why should you consider this simple and inexpensive accessory for your Treo 650? A: Because the 2.5mm jack on the Treo 650 is smaller than the 3.5mm standard used by the majority of portable headphones.
Of course, you can use the earbuds that come with the phone, but if you prefer something more comfortable or already own quality stereo headphones you'll need this adapter to operate them with the Treo 650.
It's either that or purchase a Bluetooth-enabled headset ... which will cost you _a lot_ more than this adapter. That was a small price for me to pay for the ability to listen to tunes on my Treo 650 using my Sony MDR-NC6 noise-cancelling favorites. Sweet.
Seidio manufactures a similar adapter for the same price that isn't as bulky and obtrusive ... two small connectors at the end of a 2-inch wire that allows you a little more flexibility to adjust direction and angle than this larger piece of plastic. Unfortunately, it's not available on A yet.
If you are a Treo 650 user and familiar with most of the online stores, blogs and sites dedicated to the smartphone we all love, you'll know where to look ... one of my favorites is Treonauts.
Not reliable January 25, 2006 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
The problem with this adaptor is that if you walk around, the plug+adaptor assembly is so bulky that it puts a lots of stress on the connections and tend to connect and disconnect (electrically) while you walk.
Seidio Stereo Adapter for Treo 700w/650/600 that I found at treonauts.com is way better. It relieves the mechanical stress with a little wire. [although this adapter requires me to plug in my headphones only halfway, I can do that]
(One day I hope palm just adds a regular headphone jack to the treo.)
Broke my Treo May 24, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
The headset adapter works just fine. The problem is that it caused my Treo to think that a headset was attached all of the time, so I couldn't hear any incoming calls.
Apparently, this happens quite often on the Treo 650's. I had to download a program to bypass the headset jack on the Treo just to get my phone working again. Not worth it!
Works well, a bit bulky September 24, 2005 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This product works well and is essential for making the Treo 650 a usable mp3 player. It is a little big, however.
Does What It Promises ... I'm buying another one March 5, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've read a lot of bad reviews about the 5 inch headset adapters so I went with this one instead. No problems so far. No clicking, no losing connections. I use this to listen to music and watch movies on the Treo 650. I'm pleased and will buy another one for backup or travelling on my next order from Amazon - just in case.
Update: bought a second one - I still like this style.
