Flawless Player at a Super HOT Price December 11, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am very pleased with this player. It's so simple to use and the networking feature is simply awesome. I bought it on amazon - with a 1TB Bundle. - I couldn't believe the price (thought it was a price mistake). Normally other brands sell much lower-feature product at much higher price.
This product plugged in and worked without a hitch within few minutes. 1080p performance is AMAZING. Above all I dont think there is a better player at this price. Probably the only player in this price range which can even support 1.5TB SATA HDDs, both wireless (802.1g) and wired network connections, 2 x USB-Host Ports, a huge collection of video output options.
Basically has all the advantages of a media playback without the high cost of other media players out that. Just insert your hard drive or plug in your memory stick in and play. I could not find any other media player which plays ISO files like this ..... thumbs up Mvix ! - Simply backup all your DVDs with all menus and features etc... and now it becomes a virtual multi-DVD changer. Rewind and fast forward worked better than I expected. Skipping chapters is EASY. Plays all common files without skipping a beat. I mostly use Divx and wmv at 720p HD. Can add subtitles to your files and it will play them too. It outperforms every other way of getting HD content from your computer to your TV.
The menu's are a breeze and very intuitive... looks like you are navigating the folders on your PC. My only concern is that they dont include the DVI or Component cable with the unit.
This is an awesome player, highly recommend it to those that want to watch digital files on TV.
Be aware of 25% restocking fee no matter !!! December 31, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Be aware of 25% restocking fee no matter !!!
Please read the return policy because they are counting you not to read it, outrageous they are charging 25% fee for no fault on the buyer part.
This is MVIX policy : we accept items returned within 15 days from date of receipt. A full purchase price refund will be given for unopened products. Opened products will receive a refund of the product cost minus a 25% restocking fee
The reason manufactures and stores give a 31 days 100% refund .
When buy a product, it most perform as claim by the manufacture. Your only way of knowing that it is damage, defective or not performing as claim by the manufacture. you have to open it and use it in order to know that.
How can you get a 100% "refund under a policy that A full purchase price refund will be given for unopened products"
My friend, you have to practice voodoo in order to use a product without open the box, in order to know that it is damaged, defective, or not performing as claim.
Honest manufacture and stores only charge a 10 to 15% if the product is not damage, defective or perform as claim, and the buyer just return it. outrageous they are charging 25% fee for no fault on the buyer part.
The people at MVIX are dishonest.
Be aware and stay away from their products unless, you are willing to pay 25% restocking fee for their product that is damaged, defective, or not performing as claim before you even open the box.
_________ Problem with it
1) it freeze and stuck like crazy too often. 2) The menu is very slow to respond. 3) sometime contents don't show up, and you have to refresh or reboot. 4) network files transfer is extremely slow. 5)it does drop the wireless connection 6) it has problem playing 5.1 and DTS 7) music playing menu is terrible. 8) it has problem playing 50% of some files of DIVX and XVID
... And finally a player that works! January 6, 2009 There are hundreds of such "players" out there and I have tested atleast 4-5 of them -- and I can confidently say that this is the only one that works best. It is the only one that can play ISO files. I have over 440 movies in ISO format and it plays each and every one without a hitch over my home network... flawlessly.
This is the best player out there ... at the best price - Hands down!
