2 out of 5 stars Better prices can be found on these!   January 5, 2007

This is (I guess) better quality tape than the standard...BUT you can get it MUCH cheaper (same SONY product exactly) for a LOT LESS from other venders. I got several packs of five for about $7.00 per tape! Check the net and save on these! Forget getting them at Circuit City or Best Buy, if you can even find them....even MORE expensive! Time will tell...and editing if this product is worth the extra bucks.

I don't think you can get a better deal than this. No dropouts, no noise, competitive price. I'm using it in the Sony HDR-HC7, and the video quality is spectacular.

5 out of 5 stars Not worth it, buy the cheaper version.   June 3, 2007

You don't need to pay extra for you MiniDV videotapes. The cheapest brand of tape will work as good as the most expensive because it is all digital. And having a digital camera is like having Electrolytes on your drink,it makes it all better. Buy the much cheaper TDK MiniDVs and buy yourself a nice microphone with the money you saved.

2 out of 5 stars Unreliable   September 27, 2007

We've been using these tapes on both a Canon HV20 and XHA1 and they are having a tendency to drop out several seconds right after we start recording and occasional drop frames later. At first we thought it was one of the cameras, or a head cleaning issue, but this is happening on two cameras, and two different models at that. We've missed some vitally important footage because of this. Though we don't have the problem on every tape, it happens frequently enough that we will not be using them again.

5 out of 5 stars MiniDV HD cassettes   June 7, 2007

Pricier than their cousins, the Standard MiniDv Cassettes, the one's listed out here on Amazon are almost 50% cheaper than the same ones (exactly the same, brand, etc) that I've found at the local photography store. The box stores don't carry them with frequency...not enough HD cameras in the hands of the public yet...I'm sure availability will change soon though with more HiDef hardware being purchased.

You have to use them in the HD camera's or you'll void the warranty. You'll also gum up the heads of the more sensistive prouser cameras which means poor quality images and possibly ruining the heads themselves.

I just bought a new Canon XHA1 and it's worth the investment to use the HD cassettes.

In fact, I'm going to order more right now.
