3 out of 5 stars Just what I needed   August 22, 2007

I needed something to allow my 2 year old grandson to listen to all his music CD's without using a cd player. Now no more little finger prints on the cd's and I can fit as much music as he needs on the Sansa player and with the extra SD card I can add more. We plan to get him the Sansa Shaker for Christmas but this unit will stay at the Grandparents house. The sound is great for what I'm using it for. I would have given it 4 stars but the battery compartment is very tight and I hope it's not aa problem changing the batteries.

2 out of 5 stars Poor circuit quality   September 22, 2007

The form factor is good and would be an excellent product if the audio quality did not degrade with usage. The product that received was used about 4hrs and then started to crackle and pop while playing off of an ipod. I let it cool for 30min and now it plays well on 20min cycles of playing and cooling. Mine is going to the Salvation Army shortly.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with other models in the same cost bracket.

Good luck.

3 out of 5 stars pleasantly surprised   February 17, 2008

-Baught one in barbados to share ipod music with a group of friends. The sound quality deteriorated when the batteries went low (more than 12 hours if you use good quality new batteries). I was pleasantly surprised at how well the speakers worked. They are not for you if you want the "blast the boom box" sound. To listen to around the table while you chat with your friends, they are perfect. The price is great - especially for young children. Ours came with a usb adapter. If you shop around you can get a good price on a usb wall adapter. Perfect size for travel.

1 out of 5 stars Didn't work   December 30, 2007
The speakers only worked when plugged in--not when using batteries--which is kind of important when looking for a portable speaker. When it is plugged in, the sound is very quiet. If you buy it, get it from a brick and mortar store. Amazon returns are not worth the aggravation over a $10 item.

3 out of 5 stars portable speaker   May 16, 2008
This speaker was fairly easy to use, even though I am technologically challenged, but I was very disappointed in the amount of sound it produced. I could barely hear the audiobook I was trying to listen to.
