Dont waste your money, you will regret this purchase. June 29, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this item because I use to have the older one that slots on top of the photo ipods (pre-video bottom slots). I loved it even though it broke and had to purchase a new one. Eventually my Ipod needed to be replaced so I purchased one of the video Ipods. Trusting Griffin iTrips I bought this despite bad feedback it already had. After having it now for a few months, I have hated it from day one. No matter what stations I try I always get static. I live about an hour away from Atlanta, so there really should be no reason for this. Ive tried every single radio station possible with no luck. The second thing that I hate about this iTrip is that there is no way to boost the signal level with the Ipods volume. You can only use your car volume to control it. This is because of some change with these newer ipods and only having the slot on the bottom for syncing and such. SO on top of getting static on all stations there is no way to boost the sound or level to try and "drown out" the static. My suggestion, find a way to plug directly into your system, the new iTrips are all horrible.
Works WAY better than expected April 18, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This will be the 3rd iTrip I have owned. I didn't have a choice as my previous iTrips aren't compatible with my new iPod Classic. I read the reviews which pretty much trashes all FM transmitters equally, then found another iTrip I thought worth trying. I am pleasantly surprised. Out of the 3 iTrips I've owned this latest iTrip is by far the clearest of the three, and the first one supposedly had the most boost since it was pre-FCC lockdown era iTrip. But I'm having far better luck tuning in with this latest version than either of the previous versions. It also helps I was told the secret FM transmitter trick that makes practically any of them better than the clearest radio station. Ready? Take the antenna off your car. No kidding. If you have a removable antenna then take if off and stick it in your trunk. You have now removed 99% of external radio signals your stereo was picking up. Now the only signal left is the iTrip 5 feet away! Of course if you want to listen to the radio again you'll have to reinstall the antenna, but then why would you need an iTrip if you liked what was playing on radio stations???
Way too weak a signal! August 11, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this product thinking that it would be a great replacement for my old Belkin iTrip, which only allowed you to change radio stations when hooked up to a computer. Boy was I wrong. The signal from this thing is so weak that when you're less than three feet from the car antenna, you can still hearing static while songs are playing. Don't waste your money.
A Disimprovement Over the Last Version April 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This iTrip is very poorly designed and is actually WORSE than the previous version, though sound quality seems about the same. It is thinner than the previous version and, combined with the spacer to allow for cases (which wasn't necessary using my Griffin case, old iTrip fit just fine even with case), it seems wiggly and as though a sharp bang or drop from the wrong angle would snap the iTrip in half, leaving half inside the iPod and half elsewhere. The previous version is both thicker and easier to use. The up/down buttons to change between stations need to be pressed QUITE hard to function, and are difficult to get to cooperate. Additionally, the LED that lights up the LCD does so unevenly and seems cheaper.
Pretty much sucks!! June 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Do yourself a favor and do not buy this Itrip. I had one of the old ITrips that you plugged into the top of your IPod. It actually worked pretty well. After buying an IPod Nano, I got this Itrip. It is a complete waste of money. It works well at home when sitting on top of my radio but I bought it to use in my car as well. I cannot get reception ANYWHERE on ANY station without hearing constant static in the background. I would never buy this again. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
