Excellent Value! September 18, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this along with my brand new Samsung 46" LCD TV and are loving both!
I installed this in around a half hour with the help of my brother, and some sub-par instructions. I advise having the help of someone knowledgeable with these things, or just hire a professional.
This thing is heavier than it looks, and structurally can support the weight of my TV and them some, which is what you want if you're talking about swinging out an $1500 LCD TV from the wall. The manufacturer gives you mounting screws for literally every last conceivable type of flat screen, as well as a set of really deep wall mounting screws.
The included HDMI cable and screen cleaner have been very useful as well.
For the price, it doesn't get any better than this. A buddy of mine recently paid double for virtually the same thing.
Won't Fit 65" Sharp Aquos December 9, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this for my 65" Sharp Aquos. I had to modify this mount because the 2 vertical metal brackets that attach to the back of the TV were not long enough (about 8" too short - need to be 28" long)and the bolts that attach to the Sharp 65" are 10M 1.50 40mm (the ones that come with the mount are 8M). I bought 2 metal straps at lowes .25 inch thick 1.25" wide for about $10. I also had to drill out the plastic dowes that came with the mount to fit the 10M bolts. I also used 3/8" lag bolts because the 1/4" lag bolts that come with the mount just didn't seem strong enough for me. The Sharp 65" LCD weighs about 135 lbs. and this mount holds it well with the modifications I made. It is sturdy and the articulating arm is very strong (didn't feel shaky when pulling out from wall). I like being able to pull the TV out 26" from the wall and tilt it up to 20 degrees (although I only tilt it about 3 degrees).
I only gave it 4 stars because of all the modifications I had to make to actually use it on a 65" flat screen. Also for the price when all other mounts (even ones that can't extend out from the wall) were 2 to 4 times more expensive I felt this mount was a good value (even with the extra $64 I paid for expedited shipping). If your flat screen bolt holes are 19" or less apart (vertically) then this is definately the articulating mount for you.
tv mount December 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Then item was fairly heavy so make sure you have two people to help. Other than that it was very simple instructions and it even came with a built in leveler so you could hang it staright. It took us only 30 min from opening the box to have the tv hanging on the wall! Great product.
Fairly sturdy articulating mount January 9, 2009 I bought this mount for a 50-inch plasma screen (80-100 lbs). It seems fairly sturdy, but I am not sure if I would trust it with the articulating arm fully extended due to the excess torque pulling at the wall bolts. The instructions that came with the unit were rather lame and seemed to be missing some relevant content. I think that using a stud finder is essential to install this or any other mount that is going to be used to support a heavy TV.
The mount comes with several assorted bolts for attaching the mounting arms to the back of the TV, but some were too long to use and some were almost too short to ensure enough thread engagement after tightening things. If someone needs to use the 8mm bolts, they might want to take a trip to the hardware store and pick up some mid-length ones.
The wall bracket comes with its own level indicator. However, I noticed some play in the articulating arm. Therefore, the part attached to the wall may be perfectly level, and the TV may hang at an angle due to the arm being off 5-10 degrees after bearing the load of a heavy TV. Before installing, I would recommend pulling on the articulating arm while retracted and try to rotate it to see how much play there is, and then compensate for any angle adjustment when drilling the stud bolt holes. The wall bracket may not be quite level, but the TV plate should be level (you can check by resting a separate level on this part). If the TV is mounted and seems to be listing to one side, there are four Allen head bolt in the middle of the TV mounting plate that may be able to be loosened to rotate things, but the TV will have to be removed from the mount to make the adjustment.
