Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The DSW PRO Series represents more than a significant step forward in subwoofer performance. With the incorporation of two proprietary Polk Audio technologies, acoustic output is maximized as it reduces audible distortion. Feed Forward is a zero latency system that maximizes dynamic output of the subwoofer system without relying on slow responding feedback techniques. What you hear is quick, precise bass output with minimal audible distortion, even at ground shaking volume levels. The efficiency of a Class D digital amplifier translates into high-power and reliable operation with low distortion. LINE and SPEAKER level inputs ensure easy hook-up compatibility with virtually any system. Signal-sensing Smart Amp Auto ON/OFF Circuitry knows when to turn itself on and off. 5-way Binding posts give you hookup versatility and tight, snug connections. The DSW PRO Series remote control incorporates the Polk Room Optimizer (PRO) feature, four push-button room equalization presets that correct for room boundary effects for typical room placements. Weight - 41.00 pounds (18.60 kgs)

5 out of 5 stars Terrific Subwoofer!   February 19, 2008

I have enjoyed Polk products for many years now. When my wife and I recently moved into a new home and I had a chance to get a new home theater system, there was no question that it would include Polk speakers. Polk's DSW PRO 500 subwoofer provides great, clear and punchy bass without distortion or boominess for my movie and music collection. I also recently purchased the Onkyo TX-SR705 7.1 receiver. The combination of Polk center, front, surround speakers and this subwoofer, all powered by the Onkyo can't be beat. Polk's PRO 500 is easily one of the best built and best sounding subwoofers on the market today, at any price. Get one....you will not regret it!

5 out of 5 stars Bose5.1 + Harman Kardom + DSW500 = 5.2 Channel Home Theater   February 25, 2008

I am a big fan of Bose. I had Bose 321 and then couple of months back I bought Bose 5.1 and Harman Kardon Receiver to complete my new Home Theater. But, ever since I bought Bose 5.1, I am NOT impressed with Bass. Ofcourse, Bose delivers the Best sound in High Frequency world, but when it comes to Low frequency, it's not the best. After lots of research, I figured out I need an external Subwoofer which again comes to the factor which ones to buy. After comparing almost all the brands I inclined towards Polk Audio - DSW 500. Reason - It fits my budget $500(because I already spent $1000 on Bose 5.1) + Bass is awesome to fit in my house. I am using it from last one week ...I am very satisfied and happy and even my wife is happy too even though I spent an extra $$. I recommend this product, you won't be disappointed and more importantly you will realize what you missed.

5 out of 5 stars Unbelievable sub   April 6, 2008

This is one amazing sub it produces earth shaking base. The base is tight with no audible distortions. This product shines when it comes to jazz and movies. Uh oh! I hear the neighbors knocking.

5 out of 5 stars Great Subwoofer loaded with features   May 4, 2008

I recently upgraded to the Polk DSWPro 500. Initially I bought a Polk PSW10 sub to compliment my Monitor 50 floorstanding speakers, which are great but with only dual 5 1/4 woofers, the 50's are lacking in the bass department. The PSW10 was decent, but I was still missing the deep hard hitting bass I had hoped for. The DSWPro 500 took care of that and then some. I'll start with the fit and finish.

This sub is very well built and attractive to look at even though it is all black. The base feet are solid and not cheap like the monitor series speakers or the little nubbins on the PSW10. If you want, you can move the feet to the back side to make it a front firing sub. The speaker is very clean looking and the side port is attractive. In the down firing position, the blue LED light looks very nice and if you don't like the brightness of it, you can turn the light off altogether.

Features and Sound
This sub has very nice features. There are the normal volume and crossover knobs in the back, but what makes this such a cool sub is that it comes with a remote with volume control and equalized settings depending on where in your room the sub is placed. Anything you need done with the sub can be controlled with the remote. As I mentioned before, the LED light looks cool and the fact that you can turn it off is a nice touch.
This sub sounds ridiculous. Some nights I am actually afraid to turn the volume up too loud because this thing shakes the whole house. The bass is tight and clear. When I first bought it, the sound was muddy, but I hadn't set up my receiver crossover settings yet. Don't forget to do that.

I bought this sub for a ridiculously low price of $269... but it was refurbished. Absolutely nothing was wrong with it though. It was like it was brand new. I see that it is selling new for $500, but maybe if you are lucky, you can find it refurbished for the same price I paid. Worth every penny.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Subwoofer   August 19, 2008
I had a hard time deciding what subwoofer to purchase since there are so many selections in the market. I use my system for both home theater and music and my components are solid quality but not the high end. I was hesitant to go the step up (price mostly) to this subwoofer but after having this subwoofer for 3 months, this product is awesome and I am glad I spent the money. The low sounds are amazing in both movies and music. I have 2 small children and was afraid of keeping them awake at night - there is no issue since it has various settings (such as night setting) and I can set the subwoofer for different times, music, etc. I highly recommend this subwoofer - it is a solid investment and such great quality.
