great space saving subwoofer October 10, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
don't have room for the typical large subwoofer but still missing that bass due to small main speakers? this sub is great. it compliments my generic-but-small sounding bose 161 speakers used for music listening quite nicely.
Kicks like a motha' May 11, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Better than my 150.00 Yamaha by a frickin mile. Hit's deep, low, and with very very little distortion. Get a Y cable, this one uses the R/L inputs, most recievers do not.
Great Little Speaker, Great Big Sound July 7, 2007 This is a very nice sounding speaker. The sound that it adds is very subtle, yet very rich and full. The word, "musical" seems to fit. Well defined sound. If you get one of these, use restraint with the output level as it's easy to over power your regular speakers with this surprisingly powerful unit. The price and value of the SUB-80 is excellent.
Decent while it lasted. January 16, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
The subwoofer worked well enough for about 6 months ( Not exceptionally big sound but about what you would expect for a 8" sub). Then it just stopped working. Replaced the fuse and it worked for about 24 hours before it stopped again.Replaced the fuse a couple more times but still no go. Replaced the cable just in case this was the problem but it wasn't. Not too upset since the subwoofer wasn't too expensive but still bummed out all the same.
Great addition to den stereo July 30, 2008 This strikes me as a well-made speaker that's perfect for fleshing out the bass in a den or other relatively small room. The secret is not to overdrive it - it is for filling in the lows that the smaller speakers can't handle, not for booming out distorted bass. For my setup I've found the best results with a Gain setting at about 50%, and a Freq setting at about 30%. I've found it's made a big difference in the listening experience on all types of music. Very good quality for the price.
