Perfect for adding to smaller surround sound set-ups, this stylish powered Yamaha YST-SW030SL subwoofer provides 75 watts of output power (150 watts of dynamic power). It features an 8-inch woofer cone that's magnetically shielded for safe placement near a television or monitor. The Advanced Yamaha Active Servo Technology (Advanced YST) feature is a unique system in which the speaker and amplifier work together to cancel out impedance so the speaker unit has a perfectly linear motion. Advanced YST helps to ensure the highest levels of sound pressure and overall performance. Yamaha's QD-Bass (Quatre Dispersion Bass) technology uses down-firing drivers with square, pyramid-shaped reflective plates to radiate the sound efficiently in four horizontal directions. I trully enjoy the Yamaha YST-SW030SL Powered Subwoofer. It performs better than expected at the very resonable price. The deep rich sound has made all the difference in the world in my surroundsound system. The richness of the sound has made my system more clear and complete. It was shipped as promised and I am completely satisfied with both the product and service.

Yamaha has always been reliable. not stellar but quite good. This is no exception. If I had more money, Polk would have been the choice. But on a budget, this one stands out.

Yamaha YST-SW030SL Powered Subwoofer: I didn't realize what I was missing. I purchased a receiver & 5 speakers on sale about 2 years ago, but I didn't have a subwoofer. It really sounds like a whole new system.
Follow the instructions in the manual & you won't end up w/ too much bass.
I wasn't sure if it came w/ a cable or not. It has a cheep one, so I stuck w/ a nicer one from radio shack.
My heart pounds a little faster when I play my X-Box games now. Sweet!

WOW!! I AM IMPRESSED!!! My background includes live sound, recording and club audio engineering, as well as home theater installations. I had finally got together the system I wanted for my living room. This included a pioneer receiver, a complete Mirage speaker system, including their most expensive subwoofer, and a KLH subwoofer. Needless to say, it is impressive. So, I figured I would put my old system in my bedroom. Problem-I didn't want to sacrifice either of my subwoofers, and my budget was very limited. So, after a lot of searching around, and on the strength of the reviews, I decided to try the YST-SW030SL. WOW, I'M IMPRESSED!! I just tried it out with my new 'Pink Floyd at the Berlin Wall' DVD. I may never leave my bedroom again!! The bass response is unbelievable! The drums, bass guitar and even pyotechnics, came through with no 'farting', bottoming, or distortion of any kind, and I like it LOUD. My next door neighbor paid the speaker the ultimate compliment- "Did you get a new speaker? Sounds good"! I would definitely recommend this speaker to anyone wanting a nice powered subwoofer at a great price!
