Amazon.com Product Description Want to take great Polk Audio speaker sound outdoors? Check out the indoor/outdoor 100-watt Atrium 55s. The all stainless steel and brass hardware is completely rustproof, as are the aluminum brackets that allow multiple mounting options and full 90-degree rotation: aim them to deliver the best possible sound in a variety of locations. The rustproof aluminum grilles have 55 percent open area for superior sound quality. Most importantly, the Atrium 55s rugged, weatherproof, design meets or exceeds several military specifications for water, wind, salt, and corrosion. Inside the completely sealed enclosure is a 5.25-inch Dynamic Balance mineral-filled polymer driver with butyl rubber suspension for pumping out amazing bass, while its 1-inch soft dome tweeter with neodymium magnet broadly distributes high frequencies to cover a large area with high fidelity sound. Polk's Dynamic Balance technology produces flat frequency response, sharp detail, transparency and an ability to play program material with wide dynamic range at life-like volume levels without a hint of strain. The sound is always clean, clear, and effortless. The sculpted front baffle and rounded enclosure minimizes diffraction (sound reflecting off of hard edges) for more open and lifelike imaging. Connect them to an amplifier or receiver using the set's gold-plated five-way speaker-level binding posts. The Atrium 55s are also voice-matched to Polk's RTi speakers, and therefore make great surrounds in a complete Polk home theater system with the ability to handle up to 100 watts per channel. What's in the Box Pair, Atrium 55 speakers (black), mounting brackets, manual, 2-year parts and labor warranty.

Great sound outdoors! July 19, 2007 G. Poshkus (Upstate NY) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I orginally had a pair of JVC outdoor speakers and a passive subwoofer on my patio. Within a year the weather and bugs destroyer the paper cones making them all defunct. I planned to replace the speakers and subwoofer with better quality units. These Polk speakers seem to be constructed much better than the JVC's, but the biggest surprise was the sound quality. These speakers produce great high, mid and low frequency output. The low frequency output is so good (it BOOMS) that I see no need to buy an outdoor subwoofer.
Good sound for the money August 21, 2003 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
Speakers are installed under an eaves in my backyard. Good bass in a large area and clear sound out to 50 feet.
Nice outdoor speaker May 14, 2007 L. Robinson (North Andover, MA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have the Polk Atrium 55's on my deck and tied into my whole house system. They are exactly what I was looking for to get the sound outside. The sound quality is very good and with the subwoofer inside the house kicking and the windows open I feel like I'm sitting in my living room. Well made, easy to install, and good sound quality.
Exactly what we were looking for! October 17, 2009 C. Frazier (Eclectic, AL USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Outside entertaining has never been better. After 2 years with the rock speakers, finally going bust, we had to come up with a better solution. We did our research and bought the Polk speakers. We were so impressed and so are our friends. Loud and clear. Love 'em!
fantastic sound August 30, 2009 Kevin in NJ (New Jersey) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Using the Polk Audio Atrium 55 outside by pool. Great sound, projection and bass. I have really cranked them up at times and they have had no problem handling the volume.
