Love It! March 26, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was already happy with the sound quality of the Tivoli Model Two, but after adding the subwoofer I love it. The only thing I don't like is the hum you get if you turn off the tuner and leave the subwoofer in standby mode. You also need to shop around for the best price. You can pay anywhere from $80 to $175 for this unit.
Haven't purchased yet because... March 8, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased the
80.00 sub mentioned in a review of this item. I,as that gentleman was also very disappointed. It was useless. Obviously this must be an upgrade. It's twice the price and has a vent. My last Tivoli purchase was 10/07. I splurged on $800.00 table radio w/down firing sub. Sent it back; no bass. I'm on the fence. Best purchase was their sattelite W/ Sirius. All Tivolis I have get fantastic reception. WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO LIGHT THE DIAL. It's hard enoug to read in daylight. D.Fortes,M.V.MA 3 stars because I haven't made the purchase...yet.
OK....but March 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased the subwoofer when it still was 79.99 and NOT $159.99 when the price was DOUBLED earlier this year. I had to return my 1st unit due to the fact that it would not automatically shut off when the radio was turned off. Tivoli Audio replaced the unit and it works fine. It really enhances the sound of the Model Two especially when connected to my iPod. However,IMHO, it is NOT worth the current price. Sorry Tivoli, but doubling the price was NOT a good idea!
Very satisfied February 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This radio is superb. Have heard the Bose and the quality of the sound that the Tivoli puts out is superior. Very small and compact, but the quality and sound is outstanding. Would suggest this to anyone.
finding out what your model two can really sound like February 14, 2008 after buying the Model Two system, i followed the advice in some earlier reviews and used it 'standalone' for several weeks to familiarize myself with the sound. as reported, the sound quality is quite good and the bass response seems to be tuned up in the manufacturing process for added emphasis.
adding the subwoofer has filled out the sound, giving a rich dimension that wasn't there before. more warmth, eliminating any sense of "left-right" displacement, a new balance and synergy. the subwoofer unifies the satellite speakers and completes the sound profile coming out through the room. it is very hard now to isolate any single unit in the triad, what i hear is magnificent sound.
as reported, this is not a car stereo subwoofer. it won't make the room bounce no matter how high you turn it up. what it does is subtle yet at the same time critical -- you'll never know how good the Model Two can sound until you add the subwoofer.
a couple final notes: placement is important, follow the manual and put it low on the floor. it doesn't have to be centered between the satellites but that seems to work best. i live in an old house with a family below and the floors transmit sound easily . . . they don't hear this but i certainly do. there's a real elegance in the way this unit has been engineered, and it works and is worth the money even if it's not on sale.
