Amazon.com Product Description
When you're going to be on the road or out of doors and you just have to catch the game, you'll want a TV as small as your pocket and as rugged as you. You'll want Casio's SY-30 LCD TV. The tiny set offers a 2.7-inch, 118,800-pixel screen and a built-in NTSC tuner with folding rod antenna to deliver your sports, news, or other programming whenever--and wherever--you need it.

The SY-30's audio/composite-video input grants hookup options for a game console, camcorder, or even a DVD player or VCR. A monaural earphone jack allows private listening, and the unit runs for about four hours on four AA alkaline batteries (not included). 4 out of 5 stars Good Emergency Backup TV   June 6, 2004

I bought this TV in July of 2003 after a massive storm knocked out power to over 75% of the Memphis area. I finally got to use it when another storm rolled through May 30, 2004, and our power went out during a series of tornado warnings and severe thunderstorms. The nice thing about the color screen is that you can see the radar image on the news and stay informed. The digital tuner works good if you are close to the city. In the outskirts it might not be as effective. I really liked being able to stay with the news after the power went out. It takes 4 AA batteries which are easy to install. It has a "kick stand" on the back which allows you to set it up on a table at an angle. The controls are easy to use and the volume seems sufficient even when the rain and thunder are loud. The only thing that would make this TV a little better would be a larger screen. I highly recommend having this in your emergency stash. If you only use it for emergencies, I would recommend non-rechargable batteries. But be sure to keep the batteries with it but in another container so that they don't leak and make a mess.

4 out of 5 stars I love this litle TV!!   June 29, 2004

I keep this on my desk at work. Most stations in my area come in clearly. A few are fuzzy, but that's not the fault of the TV, that happens with all portable TV's. You have to be in an area of good reception. Anyway, this little TV has a really clear picture for a portable TV!

If it came with an A/C adapter, I'd give it 5 stars. But I have to dish out another $15 for the adapter.

4 out of 5 stars Casio SY 30   November 5, 2003

So far, so good...I like it a lot...I even get reception in my car! The low channels don't come in too well, but as with a lot of TV's this is a problem. Very compact and durable.

3 out of 5 stars Didn't do what I wanted   October 29, 2005

I bought this SY-30 to use mainly as a color monitor for setting up security cameras, but it has no "contrast" or "color" or "tint" controls so the images are not able to be adjusted for viewing. The video input port requires a special adapter cable to use properly. When used as a TV, the channel scanning is slow and it takes a long time to find a TV channel you want. It has adequate reception for general TV viewing. It is built nicely for rugged use, but mine will be returned as just not good enough to use.

2 out of 5 stars Pass, On This One   February 28, 2006

Purchased this for use during travel, but screen is NOT viewable outdoors and barely viewable indoors.

Reception is poor, unless outfitted with the Xium antenna.

The only positives include rugged, handsome case and jacks for external devices, including external antenna.

This would have been a much better product if they had included a cowling for the screen; not sure how it can be packaged and advertised for use outdoors when it performs so shabbily under those circumstances.
