Superb TV Stand and speakers October 14, 2007 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
This is the perfect unit for those who want everything confined to the space of the unit. You can tell from the pictures that there are no speakers showing nor are there any wires shown. There are 6 speakers: 2 on the top bar just under the TV, 2 woofers on the bottom on the bottom bar and oneeach on the top left and top right. The wires are there; however, you will have to hide them and that will be easy but time consuming. The Amazon listing suggest the unit weighs 205 pounds. That, however, is wrong. It is more like 150 pounds or less but it is heavy. Better yet, it slides really easy. We put the 105 pound TV on top and slid it in place after placing ALL the wires for the TV, DVD, Cable, another Surround Sound and this unit. The 4 silver colored feet makes it slide easily. Best part: it works well. It is not the $1,000 unit you will pay extra for to have Dolby 5.1 but it is close. Get yourself some good but not really expensive HDMI Cables and a whole bucket of patience.
It did not work at all despite all efforts. 3mm noticeble gap on both ends of front panels. Sub-std finish as Sony product. December 17, 2007 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I put Sony Bravia XBR4 46" TV on top of the RHT-G800 TV stand. Wired all correctly. But I could not turn on the RHT-G800. I checked its manual carefully, spent long time and tried all. But it did not turn on.
Overall the TV stand looks just okay although at the front side it has about 3 mm noticeable gap at joints both ends. You may not probably expect it as a fine piece of furniture. If Sony logo is not on the front panel, one may think it a stand from a local discount store. However, the built-in convenience is there, and so I am going to replace it.
Great Space Save - No cables ! December 18, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This Home Theater-TV STand combo is a great space saver and eliminates all dangling cables and connections. Sound quality is good and surround effect works very well for medium/small size rooms. But be aware that this is only a 5.1 channel system not 7.1.
Nice Stand, No On Screen Display - Be Ready to Stand Up Often December 24, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The stand sounds good. I have never had a surround sound system but this stand really is an improvement from the TV sound system. I have a Sony KDL-40W3000 attached. The stand is solid weighing in at about 125 pounds, not easy to move around. The settings and volume do not display on the screen, only on the stand itself which has a small display built into the top, only visible when standing over it. Overall I am very happy with the RHT-G800.
UPDATE March 2008 - Athough the sound is acceptable the lack of on-screen display and the placement of the display on the top of the stand makes this unit an annoying experience. Without standing over the unit you never know the surround sound setting, the volume level, or even whether it is turned on. I would not buy this again, I may end up just using it as a TV stand and buy a Bose 3,2,1 since I have heard great things about them.
Home Theater. January 14, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Not worth the money. The sound quality is little more than that provided by Sony Bravia TV.
