Awesome mount March 8, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
It's difficult to get a sense of the stability of this mount from just looking at the photo. I had some reservations about it, especially given that it only mounts to a single stud. But, I saw it in a local store and instantly knew that it would definitely be sturdy enough. The entire mount is solidly constructed and well made.
The wall-mount portion uses three heavy lag screws, and are offset slightly from each other, so that the screws do not all hit the same wood grain on your stud.
My other concern was that it is listed as for a maximum of 40" display. I wanted to put my 42" Toshiba on it. The Sanus website lets you pick your manufacturer/model of display and they recommend a mount for you. Even at 42", this mount was recommended by the manufacturer. (Note: the mount specifies a max of 80 pounds. The Toshiba 42hl196 is listed as 63 lb after you remove the desk stand.)
Once mounted, my TV can rotate almost a full 180d to allow viewing from either extreme angle in my living room. And to have it extend 20" out from the wall is amazing.
The only minor downside, is that because the wall-mount portion only mounts to a single stud, you cannot precisely place the bracket ANYwhere on the wall that you would like. Thus the TV cannot be placed as precisely as you might like. However, given the full range of positions available via the swing-arm, it is not an issue at all.
Oh... and I liked the black one, but a silver one is available too.
Will not work on Vizio VX37L without adaptation March 26, 2007 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
First let me say, good strong mount, what you see is what you get. Vizio makes it very difficult to determine what you actually need to mount the VX37L and I assume the entire VX series, I'm sure if you have done any research you have come to your own conclusions as to why. The VX37L has mounting holes that are approximately 20 inches wide and 8 inches from top to bottom and requires M8 x 1.25 mounting bolts. The mounting plate on this arm has a maximum separation of 8" in both directions. To resolve this issue so that the arm would work with my VX37L I bought two 1" square steel tubes at a local home improvement store that were pre-drilled at 1" increments. I then cut them down to my desired length with a hacksaw and put some decorative caps on the ends. I mounted them to the mounting plate on the arm by slipping the provided lock washers on the short 6mm mounting bolts that came with the arm and sliding them down the inside of the tube to the correct positions 8" apart and secured them with a 6mm nut (not provided). Once both mounting arms were prepared I held the arms to the mounting plate and removed the nuts wile applying pressure to the head of the bolt through the opposite side so that the bolt could be passed through the mounting plate without it or the lock washer falling out. I then tightened the nut down on the side of the mounting plate facing the wall. Mounting the arms in this manner allowed me to mount the arm to the back of the display by simply passing the M8 cap head bolts through the entire arm into the mounting holes. Needless to say this saved me a great deal of money as most people want what it cost for the arm to provide you a simple mounting plate.
Get out the tool box January 4, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Instructions are easy to use. Worked well on a 40" LCD Display I was concerned about the screen tilt but after being mounted it balances very nicely and provides an easy way to adjust for minor movements.
GREAT PRODUCT! July 22, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This wall mount is really strong and sturdy. It can extend really far out and pretty mobile. The main thing about this is that its extremely strong, well built, and super easy assemble. I checked out a few mounts at local retail stores, and the price of amazon and quality of this mount is just superb.
nice looking and practical January 10, 2007 It's a very high quality very well constructed product. Very easy to install and allow you to position the TV or monitor in many ways.
