Product Description The MRF-100 Expander increases your remote control's operating range to 50-100 feet with an RF signal. Control your home entertainment system through walls, doors, floors -- even outdoors. It's a great solution for expanding the range of your A/V components - plus no more need to point the remote at anything!

Great Addition to Universal Remote January 7, 2006 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I purchased this item to go with my URC-300 and to control components in two different compartments in my entertainment center. The Expander works as advertised. I have video components in one compartment , which is where the Expander is located. The second compartment contains audio components and required the use of the flasher modules (6 included), which work great. I can now control any component from any room in the house. Very happy with the results.
One note is that the Product Dimensions listed at Amazon are for the box and not the Expander it self. The unit is much smaller.
Perfect - Awesome for parties! February 17, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Purchased at the same time I bought the URC200. I can now control my system from anywhere in the house- It is perfect for parties. Great value - sure beats having to aim your remote at some extender pyramid.
Would be great if it works April 4, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have no doubt this would have been an excellent product if it would have worked in my house.
I had to hold the remote right up to the antenna for it to receive the RF signal. This was due to a lot of interference in my house. After trying several locations/positions, I couldn't get it to work.
I emailed Universal Remote Control about it via their website, but they took a bit to answer, and I wasn't sure how log I had to return my purchase, so I sent it back. About 3 days after mailing it, they replied stating that there may be some low level interference, and to take the antenna off of the base with a small screwdriver and retest.
Obviously I can't try that, but maybe someone else is having the same issue and can try it.
Only reason I gave 3 stars is because I don't know how the RF really performs. I do know that, with the remote an inch or less from the antenna, this unit would send the signals and turn my equipment on/of (that's the only function I tested). I tried the extenders and they work too, but even without them it worked, and it was pointing at a wall more than 13ft away.
A great addition to my URC 200 December 5, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this unit separately about a year ago after having already used the URC 200 without a base station for close to a year. When I decided to go from an open component rack to a cabinet (with a vented metal door - Studiotech Ultra U-48) I had trouble using the remote; this unit solved that problem nicely. Set up was also very simple. I didn't have to connect the RF buds (to each component) that were provided by the manufacturer. It worked great right out of the box. Now I can control my home theater components without having to point the remote at the cabinet. And, I can even control them from another room. I found that to be very cool.
MRF-100 Base Station January 11, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As promised, the unit was easy to install and worked well, until it went South. The unit started changing channels and other functions on it's own. Tech Support responded in a timely manner stating that the unit was experiencing RF interference and needed to be moved around until I found a spot that worked well. I have yet to find that spot. I live 10 miles from the nearest town and a mile from the nearest corner. I'm not sure where the RF interference would come from.
When it works, it works well. The sporatic changing of functions are becoming farther apart. Maybe it will fix itself.
