WHAT AN AWFUL PIECE OF JUNK April 17, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just came home with this dvd player. I decided to purchase a JVC HDMI dvd player cause i've been quite satisfied with an old JVC great Super Vhs player, and also with a 5.1 system. But in this case the only good thing i can say is that it is very easy to upgrade it via remote control to multiregion. But all the rest can't be worse. Although the manual says that if you have an hdtv tv system you can upgrade the picture quality to 1080i, isn't true at all. I've conected the player to my philips hdtv via HDMI cable, and doesn't matter what resolution you choose, the picture is completely awful. And even with the lowest resultion, the blacks portions of the picture seem to bleed constantly taking your attention to all the flaws in the digital compression. Also suffers from constant pixelation, bad color tone and there's no picture controls at all to correct this. Believe me, this same afternoon i've planned to return this disaster, and change it for a real hdmi good player. Maybe Philips, or Panasonic work better.
Great DVD player for the money! March 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
JVC has built the DVD player I have been looking for. My old Toshiba's can't compare to this. It has all the features and connections you could ask for. The setup was easy and the menus allowed me to adjust the settings to fit my needs. I like the resume feature and the picture quality is outstanding. The DVD tray was sturdy unlike cheaper players and the remote works well. All in all great bang for the buck!
junque April 9, 2008 Maybe we just got a "lemon" DVD player here but our experience with this one was terrible. Of the 15 or so DVDs we tried, the player would only play three and then only after several attempts. It also has an annoying habit of turning itself off while you are trying to get it to play.
Our previous DVD player was an earlier version of this player. It worked fine for five years so we thought the later version would be just as good. Unfortunately, it definitely wasn't.
