Works great: And, at under $20 the Sandisk SDDR-99 ImageMate 5-in-1 Reader/Writer is a bargain. July 8, 2005 94 out of 98 found this review helpful
For basic file transfers, you simply insert your card into the device, plug the device into your computer's USB port, then press the device's transfer button. But here's an ALTERNATE transfer method that offers more flexibility: Stick your memory card in the slot, plug the device into your USB port, click the "My Computer" icon on your Windows screen, and suddenly the icon appears for "your card" where you can now drag and drop files onto the card, to and from your hard drive.
I use the device for quickly transferring my mp3 files onto my SD card: I then insert the card in my Palm Tungsten E2 PDA for playing my music on the go.
So Easy and Convenient! June 14, 2005 63 out of 64 found this review helpful
Forget those expensive loading docks! This little 2" X 3" transmitter simply plugs into the front or back of your computer with an adapter cord and with 2 minutes of time for the CD progam upload, you are all set! Just place your memory card in the slot and off you go with easy instructions! Don't use up your camera batteries when you can drop $10-$15 bucks for this great little item! The CD-ROM comes with cool extras - so SAVE your batteries!
Unit works great, software hogs resources May 8, 2006 47 out of 47 found this review helpful
The unit itself works great. Much faster transfers than using the usb cable directly to my camera. However, the software includes a "monitoring" feature, which checks every second or so, to see if you've plugged in a card. I opened up Windows Task Manager to discover that, each time it checked, it was consuming 25% of system resources (on/off each second). No wonder my computer has been slower lately, especially if I have my image editing software open (duh).
My recommendation would be to skip the San Disk software and access the card reader directly from My Computer, as mentioned in another review below.
Easy , Convienent, and necessary February 27, 2006 13 out of 14 found this review helpful

Before child, I went to the store with the picture station and did my picture work on it -- to save my printer ink?!? We looked at buying this the same time we bought our Cannon s2 powershot, but decided that it wasn't necessary and why spend another $20 on something we didn' need?. Boy were we wrong.

After child, I ordered this reader and voila! I have pictures to email to grandmas in seconds. I can fill a picture album in a much shorter amount of time, and for less money than the picture station, and it is soo easy.
Our machine works great, I leave the reader plugged in and insert my sd- pictures transfer in a second, video in a few seconds. We love it and now I know why my digital camera is better than my SLR, my advantix and my 35mm. Instant pictures of my son, sent out the same day to the people who can't hold him daily is priceless, luckily the device that makes it possible has a price that is amazingly low for great service it provides.
Works with Linux! November 19, 2006 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
Tried it in both Ubuntu and Linspire and they both automatically recognized it.
