Safety, security and no slippage. Lock it in and be confident that your equipment is secure. Zero ancillary movement and strong enough to hold DSLR, battery grip with batteries and long tele-zoom without worry or concern. Great price too! Good luck!
Great to have a spare August 23, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Tripod plates are like socks - they both disappear to the same place! This plate attaches very securely to the camera and the rubber pad prevents rotation under the weight of a telephoto.
Stop complaining, people! December 31, 2007 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I can't figure out why people complain about these mount plates when they are all similar in design. C'mon...complaining about lining it up on the tripod? About the screw being too tight?
The reason for the tight tolerances is to ensure you have a snug fit for your camera and lens on the tripod. Would you trust your several-thousand dollar investment to a looser fit? Think about it.
Good to have extras July 1, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The one that came with my tripod head ended up permanently attached to my long lens, since said lens is really too heavy to use without a tripod or monopod. I bought a couple of extra plates to use with other cameras/lenses.
I agree with the person who said this plate can be hard to line up correctly. I'm a mechanical engineer, and usually pretty good with spatial relationships, but sometimes it takes me awhile to get the thing on. If you look really closely, there's an arrow on the plate to help you, but I suspect a lot of people don't notice it.
I finally took some nail polish and painted a little dot on the edge of the plate and on the edge of tripod head while they were connected correctly. Now it's much easier to orient the plate and fit it in right. I just line up the dots.
Tripod quick release plate September 3, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Outstanding adaptor plate that mounts easily to my Nikon D80. I have a small Quantaray Digi Pro 100 tripod that I mounted the Manfrotto BOGEN RC-2 Adaptor. Wanted a small travel tripod but also wanted the convenience of having a quick release connect plate. The Bogen RC-2 with the 3157N is just that! Great quality and compact size. Just what I wanted. Am very pleased. Bought extra 3157N for video camera as well.
